We stayed at this property for our first trip to French Polynesia: The property owner and family: friendly, attentive, considerate, welcoming. Damien went above and beyond during our stay. We arrived at the property by mere coincidence that the taxi we inquired for help recognized the name of the property. Immediately calls Damien, and Damien arranged a ride with the taxi driver for a reduced fee. Arrived at the property earlier than the check-in hour, and we were accomodated quickly. Damien inquired about our plans during our trip and long story short, i ended up canceling my pre-arranged excursions for the recommendations and arrangements made by Damien. Yes, he called and made the arrangements for us. The staff: absolutely friendly, and welcoming. The cleanliness: 4/5. Nothing the property could really do, its from the environment. Lots of crabs, lizards, bugs, mosquitoes, theres nothing we can do from keeping them out of the room indefinitely. Around the property: Rhum factory/distillery are close by, 10-15 minute walking distance, vanilla plantain, pearl farm, coral garden all on the island. 10 minute drive to local markets, mini shops, and pharmacies. The ammenities: ac, mini kitchen, working stove, mini fridge, armoire, tv, shower and toilet. VIEW is incredible. The wifi is a solid 1/5 (at the restaurant than its a 4/5) bikes, kayaks, snorkeling gear and restaurant If given the opportunity to return, we would absolutely reach out to Damien and Karine. Maururuu!

Charming and well located hotel. Damien was very helpful and friendly. Breakfast and dinner at the hotel was really good. Damien makes really good cocktails. We had an excellent stay. The rooms were very well equipped and organized, good bathroom and kitchen area. The must: the hotel is located close to the distillery and pearl farm but more importantly an amazing snorkeling spot where we could see manta rays ! Just amazing. Highly recommend.

The new owners, Damien and Karen, are so kind that we left feeling like part of the family! With some advance notice they were able to organize a water taxi from the airport and had great recommendations for activities during our stay, I highly recommend the shark snorkeling with lunch on the motu. They also provide bikes and kayaks free of charge to visit the near by town/pearl farms and paddle across the lagoon to coral gardens. If you choose to just relax at the property, the excellent meals and air conditioned rooms, along with the snorkeling from their private dock will keep you content! After a two month trip around all the Society Islands, this was my absolute favorite place to stay and I can’t wait to return again one day!

Paradise!
What a fabulous experience! The rooms were clean and very nicely decorated ...and spacious enough to spread out and get comfortable. Dinners prepared by the very gracious hosts were spectacular, and with lovely presentation. The hosts arranged our transfers so everything was seamless. But the location was really our main reason for staying here, and that could hardly have been more perfect. We used bikes (provided) to pedal to a nearby grocery for food to picnic at the coral gardens which are straight out from the hotel. Then we kayaked (kayaks also provided) over and spent a full day there. Our second day we rented scooters and toured the island. Everything about our time here was simply fabulous.

Disappointed in La Perlede Tahaa
We booked this as there was very few available rooms in Tahaa or Raiatea after our sailing trip. It was only non-refundable & with Covid tests required to travel there, seems unfair to only book non-refundable rooms. The website for La Perle stated they had 24 hour transportation from the Raiatea airport, but they do not. In fact it is very difficult to get there and the cost of transportation is 3-4 times the cost of the room. It takes a long time as well (1/2 day) and not just "15 minute boat ride" as some of the ads say. The person at hotel helping us spoke mostly french so communication was difficult. She kept trying to sell us tours and never answered how we get keys since there is no front desk. We chose to charter our boat for an additional night vs stay here or take up our entire stay with traveling to and from the hotel & a very large expense. We are very disappointed that this bit of information about transportation is not clear for the traveler booking this location. I think Hotels.com should require this from the hotel or remove them as an option. It would be nice to get a refund as well. I did email the hotel and tell them we would not be staying there in advance. I did not cancel on the Hotels.com website and I figured I would get my points since I had to pay for the room.

Difficult to arrange RT transport to location
We ended up not staying at this hotel and paying for addl night on our catamaran charter. The website amenities list airport shuttle available 24 hrs; however once we booked we were advised only two departure times: 6:45am & 4pm. Our flight was 5pm. Transport is primarily by car then by boat to RFP airport-group of 4 approx. $160. No direct boat ride-private charter $250. Communication with the hotel was unclear and sometimes in French making it difficult to understand what was being proposed. No front desk person and never told how we would check in & find our rooms.

There was no AC in our room. Mosquitoes were abundant. We paid far too much not only for the too small room but also for the meals and transport there and back. Once you are here you are captive to their transport - $160 round trip, meals $70 plus drinks. The new owner is well known among islanders as being difficult and dishonest. Stay away.

The bungalow Tiare we stayed was very nice, clean and comfortable. The small beach area and dock across the road was excellent for swimming and snorkeling. The host were very accommodating. It is a short kayak paddle over to the coral gardens. Definitely a place we plan to stay at again

This is one of the best places I have had the pleasure to stay at anywhere in the world. The grounds are gorgeously landscaped, with options of single bedrooms with shared kitchens and bathrooms (in which I stayed) or more fully equipped facilities.A restaurant offering breakfast, dinner, and beverages lies between the group structure and the independent cottages. Immediately across the small street is a beachfront deck with lounge chairs and a short dock providing access to excellent snorkeling. Kayaks and bicycles are available for rental. Every element of this property is beautifully thoughtful, down to the chairs and tables that reflect the beauty of the land, sea and sky. This beauty is surpassed only by the loveliness of the hosts. So immensely generous, going far out of their way to accommodate a single traveler with dire food allergies with gracious kindness that never made one feel burdensome, even when one was. The sweetness of this family would make this a location worth staying even if the location was less serene. It's a long journey here from my home, but one I hope to make soon in the future, just to return here.

Correct experience, extras too expensive
Backpackers rooms are small but in good condition and comfortable. We enjoyed our stay overall but felt that every additional service was very expensive. For example: highest price of all islands for scooter (8,500 XPF), beers (800 XPF, with no bar area - as much expensive as at Intercontinental...), kayak (you can only book the full day). No one mentioned that dinner had to be booked in advance, so we had to pay 2,500 XPF per person for an average frozen meal, eaten in the backpacker area (a corridor with tables) with not enough rice for 6 people... last example, we had to pay the transportation to the closest boat station (5min drive), when the owner was going there to drop his wife anyway... everywhere else, this service would have been free.

Bonne continuation. Nathalie et Thierry

Lovely pension!
We stayed one night and due to a flight delay, we missed the boat transfer from raiatea to Tahaa. Roberto rearranged all transfers for us: taxi- boat- pickup personally by him at 7-8pm! We stayed in the “backpacker” room, which is a small room with one queen size bed (the nicest backpacker indeed), well decorated with comfortable bedding and fans. Absolute quiet at night. There are 2 shared bathrooms for the 4 double rooms. Very clean. No one else stayed there during our stay. The whole pension is very clean! Roberto and Lilly built La Perle de Tahaa and decorated it greatly to make you feel welcome. The breakfast is really good with great coffee. You can snorkel directly from the pontoon spotting mantas! Short but great stay and would come back! Thanks!!

Bungalows close to the beach.
We stayed in one of the small bungalows. Beautiful setting and host Roberto was very nice. However do not expect daily cleaning or towel change service. In fact, we had none in 5 days. Nice shower area, but it hadn't been cleaned in a while and the beautiful towels were stained. Also the hot water lasted about 1 minute. Or less. On the other hand, we had some terrific meals there and Roberto shuttled us to the store to buy groceries. He also arranged for us to attend the traditional Polynesian dinner and dance show and arranged our taxi boat to leave. He does island tours as well. His English is somewhat limited, but we made it work. He is in the process of building a BBQ restaurant on the beach which should be very nice. Unless you stay at the Hibiscus Hotel, you cannot rent a car. But Roberto has bicycles for rent. Watch for the tiki hut looking barge; it moves around. Great dinner experience and they will pick you up from the dock. We contacted them by kayaking to them across the lagoon. The coral garden across the lagoon is fabulous for snorkeling and an easy kayak run from La Perle.

Nice accommodation / not best treatment of clients
Well maintained hotel, modern bathrooms, many ants & mosquitos, great location in front of the coral garden that offers good snorkelling & next to a pearl farm, host was not reachable by telephone in advance, host was on holiday when we arrived, they offered no breakfast and no transport to a restaurant as nobody was there, so we had to cook on our own, WiFi did not work in the room only on the public terrasse, the standard bungalow offered a shared bathroom & kitchen what was never mentioned before, usage of a bike is 1500 CFP also if you use it just for 10 minutes

very nice stay in this wonderful remote place. The owwner is extremely welcoming. But the booking with Hotel.com was not so wonderful, it was said to be a bargain with 68% and that is a absolute lie from hotel.com: I just paid the normal price of the room, which was nice. I was really happy with the hotel, but this false bargain, from hotel.com is really not honest.

bad experience
The hotel owner is really nice and friendly. She drove us around for $10. However, there are millions of mosquitos and tons of ants around you and in the room. The room itself is really really small, is like a Cali-king sized bed big. Some spiders in the bathroom, and a long worm in the kitchen sink. The owner tries to make the hotel new by painted the outside the room and redone the kitchen area and bathroom, but it's a cheap job, you can smell harsh chemicals. There's a lounge, again you won't feel comfortable to even just sit. We didn't end up staying that night and didn't ask for refunds... The owner seems nice, but we just freaked out by the bugs.

Great Stay and It is really recommended!
It was a great stay. We really enjoyed the stay there. The location is perfect just kayak across the lagoon and you will snorkel in one of the best coral garden in french Polynesia. The hotel provided us with a free kayak. You can also watch the sunset with the view of Bora2 mountain from the hotel. Great overall stay and I recommend this hotel if you are visiting Taha'a.

Beautifully appointed rooms, but unbearably hot
I enjoyed my stay at Le Perle de Tahaa, and was impressed with its luxurious well-appointed bungalows with modern furnishings. My room featured a stone sink and shower, mini kitchenette for preparing meals, and ultra-comfortable bedding. Ordinarily I would give this caliber of room 5-stars, but the temperature in the room was unbearably hot, despite the fan - I was sweating bullets within minutes. The owner, Roberto, is a friendly but to-the-point gentleman who takes pride in his hotel, but he would do well to install air conditioning in these bungalows - even on a pay-per-use coin operated system as used in some hotels in Australia. Powerful fans are installed in the bungalows, but they are of little use as they circulate the hot air - I only maintained comfort through repeated cold showers. With this slight alteration to the property, I believe it could compete with the best of hotels. The beach area by the lagoon was well-landscaped and relaxing, and the garden area features a wide variety of places to lounge and relax. I would recommend this hotel include transfers to and from the nearby pier (2 km, 20 minute walk), as the 1000 XPF price tag for the 3-minute drive is a bit steep - such inclusions go a long way in demonstrating excellent customer service. Roberto also offers reasonably priced island tours (5000 XPF, 5 hours) to vanilla plantations, pearl farm, and fruit orchards - I highly enjoyed his knowledgable guidance and would recommend the tour to visitors.

A great stay at La Perle De Tahaa
Roberto picked me up at the water taxi, and though I speak very little French, we were able to communicate just fine. My bungalow was smartly decorated and comfortable. There’s great swimming off the dock, a nice little beach and palapa. Breakfasts were good—yogurts, fruits and delicious breads. Roberto provided transportation for two day trips, lunches and dinners, including the Ori Tahiti and dinner. His recommended restaurants were very good.

Fantastic
We arrived via water taxi to be met by Roberto, an Italian who is full of energy and passion about La Perle. We had the front bungalow with a fantastic deck that we could sit out on overlooking the lagoon, Motu's and Bora Bora. Inside the Bali designed unit was immaculate, spacious and met our requirements. The fit out had been undertaken to a very high standard in the kitchenette, bathroom and bedroom (plus having window screens meant no Mosquitos). The sofa bed for our daughter had a real bed mattress that was a great touch. Breakfast at Roberto's bungalow was great, fresh juice, fruit, toast, bread and tapioca cheese balls really set us up for the day. This was followed by trips to the coral garden, pearl farms and a vanilla plantation. At the end of the day the inviting plunge into the lagoon from the end of the pier was great, watching the sunset over Bora Bora.
