We've vacationed in Michigan for over 20 years and have stayed in many rentals. Unfortunately, this was our least enjoyable experience, although the Lake Michigan views, patio, and location near Grand Haven were excellent. The home had not been cleaned when we arrived. The management company refunded our cleaning fee and offered to send cleaners, which we appreciated, but it wasn't convenient after we had already unpacked. The home is an older A-frame, but it needs maintenance and better upkeep. You enter directly into a bedroom instead of an entryway. There are very few electrical outlets, so bring power strips if you have multiple devices. The kitchen was missing basic items like a cookie sheet or pizza pan, and there were no instructions for features like the A/C controls (located in the bathroom) or the garbage disposal switch (under the sink). The listing mentions 25 steps to the beach, but you'll also need to navigate a steep sand hill before reaching the shoreline. Our biggest concern was finding mouse droppings on the kitchen counter as we were packing to leave. We reported this to management. The setting is beautiful, but the home needs cleaning, maintenance, and updates to match the price and listing expectations.
