### Solomon's Den - A Romantic Hill Country Escape

Solomon's Den offers a romantic escape in the Lost Maples Region - the heart of the Texas Hill Country. It is designed for couples who want to get away from the hustle and bustle of life and find time to reconnect and relax (no children allowed). Inside the cabin you will find a wood burning fireplace as well as central air/heat, living area, king size bed with a unique headboard made from reclaimed wood from the property, kitchenette, dining table and double whirlpool bathtub.  
  
The "bedroom" is located up on a two step platform area which overlooks the living area and fireplace. A few feet to the right of the bed, the double whirlpool bathtub is sunken into the floor (no shower). The kitchenette offers a full size stove and refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker, pots, pans and dishes. Coffee, tea, sugar, creamer, trash bags, paper towels and dish soap are provided.  
  
We do provide linens and towels. The towels are for bathing only and should not be taken off of the property or used outside.  
  
Solomon's Den, and four other cabins are located on 6 acres between Vanderpool and Leakey on RR 337, one of Texas' most scenic highways. This area is known for it's two lane country roads that meander between steep sided canyons. It has been referred to as the "Swiss Alps of Texas" and is popular with motorcyclists and bicyclists. The cabin is located on a county maintained road, The Lower Sabinal River Road, right off of 337\. It is a perfect road for taking a leisurely walk and enjoying the beautiful mountain scenery and possible wildlife viewing.  
  
Guest robes are provided for use during your stay.  
  
There is a camp fire ring available that can be used when the area is not under a county burn ban. Firewood for the outdoor fire pit can be purchased from the Lost Maples Country Store, 4 miles up the road. Also available on the grounds is a BBQ grill (bring your own charcoal), picnic table, outdoor chairs and a hammock.  
  
Solomon's Den is conveniently located to Lost Maples State Natural Area, Garner State Park, the Frio River, as well as the cities of Vanderpool, Utopia, Leakey, Bandera and Kerrville.  
  
Lost Maples State Natural Area is about 7 miles from the cabin. Garner State Park is about 18 miles, while Leakey is about 10 miles. There are many places to begin a floating trip along the Frio River, all of which would be within 45 miles of the cabin, some closer than others. For more information please visit the various web sites for that area.  
  
Utopia is a small town where you will find a few shops, restaurants and a 9 hole golf course. The movie, "Seven Days in Utopia" was filmed there. It is about 15 miles from the cabin.  
  
Bandera is known as the Cowboy Capital of the World and offers various rodeos and "cowboy activities" throughout the year, as well as shopping, restaurants and bars. It is about 45 miles from the cabin.  
  
Kerrville is a little over 45 miles from the cabin and is the nearest city where you will find an HEB, Wal-Mart, Specs etc.  
  
The cabin is located on the second story of a two story building, although it is still very private as the area below is not a rental space and only used for storage. Being on the second story affords excellent views of the mountains.  
  
Once you make a reservation you will be provided with specific directions, check-in instructions and a list of things to do in the area. Some of the most popular attractions include The Laurel Tree Guest Table Restaurant and Tree House Dining Room, Mac and Ernie's Roadside Eatery which has been featured on Diners, Drive-ins and Dives and Bizarre Foods as well as several other publications, floating the Frio River, hiking at Lost Maples State Natural Area and Garner State Park, rodeos in Bandera and much more.  
  
You'll enjoy bird watching, star gazing, wildlife viewing and many more nature centered activities that provide for a refreshing, relaxing vacation.  
  
If you're looking for a true romantic escape without hindrances, Solomon's Den offers an "unplugged" experience with no cell service, or satellite TV. We do provide a video library in the cabin with some oldies but goodies, and you are welcome to download a movie and use the 43" smart TV to view it. AT&T and T Mobile do provide service in the area but it is spotty due to the mountains. The closest cell service is about 4 miles up the road in Vanderpool. FAST, RELIABLE AND SECURE INTERNET IS AVAILABLE AT EACH CABIN. Now you'll have more choices as to how you want to "unplug". Due to the stairs inside and outside of the cabin, and the recessed bathtub, you may want to consider another one of our cozy cabins if you have difficulty performing these activities.

Honestly, yes this place is like a 30minute drive from any grocery store or food, but we booked this house knowing that was gonna be a small struggle. Overall we felt very welcomed in this home the moment we walked in. I feel like the house was perfectly designed to bring you peace as your surrounded by nature, and even though I get home-sick easily, something about this cabin made it so hard to say goodbye. I recommend this home to the couples that need a break from their lives, from work, from the city, or from family lol. Overall beautiful beautiful home, I loved the board games they left out for us. This home was exactly what we needed. She also left us a piece of her freshly baked banana bread!

We absolutely loved our stay—it was peaceful and beautiful. The property felt completely private, as we never saw another person during our visit. The room was spotless, and the bed was very comfortable.There were only two minor things I would change. First, the bathroom lacks an exhaust fan. Second, while the sunken tub next to the bed is a unique and romantic feature, it’s not ideal for everyone—my husband is 6’4”, so bathing in a tub is challenging for him, and I’m not a big fan of baths. A handheld showerhead would be a great addition to make rinsing hair easier.That said, neither of these points affected our stay—it was truly fantastic!

#### A perfect place for a weekend getaway 

Tranquil and peaceful, are two words that come to mind. The lack of internet and spotty cell service are actually a blessing. The chairs by the fire pit, the hammock, and all of the furniture placement for that matter help make you comfortable and at peace. This place definitely helped my wife and I celebrate our anniversary in the best way possible. Thanks so much for caring for this place!

Our stay was very peaceful. We did encounter scorpions in our cabin so we were unable to enjoy the hot tub and had to cut our stay short by half a day but it was a good time Host gifted us wine and pumpkin bread which was so delicious and a nice surprise!

Location was conveniently located between the “mountains” of Garner and Lost Maples. So peaceful and relaxing after a day of hiking at the parks. We would love to return to this great find. It was everything and more for a perfect getaway.

#### Perfect unplugged getaway

From the moment we arrived, it was everything we could imagine. The scenery was stunning, the facility was comfortable, and inviting, the room was cozy and felt like it was meant for us. We absolutely loved being here and cannot wait to return. We spent an extended weekend, traveling back-and-forth toward Utopia and Concan. One day we even went over and spent the day on the Nueces river. All easy drives with absolutely stunning scenery. I just cannot recommend this place highly enough. Thank you so much for sharing.

We celebrated my birthday and Mother’s Day weekend! We own our own businesses and this was a perfect getaway to relax and disconnect from the world so to speak! This place was so charming and beautiful! The host was amazing and I loved how she left us a bottle of wine and muffins, so thoughtful! We really enjoyed our stay at Solomon’s Den. It is so charming. It is perfect for two. We really felt welcomed and enjoyed the whirlpool, wine and bread. It was so nice to get away and relax in a beautiful cabin. Very much enjoyed the birdsong and beautiful views of the surrounding hills. Excited to see a summer tanager!
