The hotel is pleasant and very well maintained. The dining is of good quality.
There is a huge humidity problem in the room. Your clothes, even when dry, feel damp. Bring your own soap, as the hotel only provides one small bottle of shower gel per day for two people, which is not enough.
One very important thing to know: there is no easily accessible beach from this hotel. For us, this was a big surprise. The photos make it look as if there is a beach right next to it. The beach is actually a 5-minute walk away, but you have to cross the parking lot and a small road. And that beach is not very pleasant — it is directly in front of Juliana Airport, with planes taking off every 15 minutes. It’s an attraction in itself: the roar of the engines, the power of the jets, the wind pushing you, and sand blasting everywhere. It’s worth experiencing once, but it is not a calm environment for swimming.
In summary, a good stay overall, but it is important to know all these details before going. Simpson Bay itself is very lively, with great bars and good restaurants.
