A basic cabin old cabin with a wolf theme. It has a bath with a shower, a queen -size bed, a small refrigerator, a microwave, a toaster oven and a coffee maker. There is small front porch. WE HAVE JUST ADDED SATELLITE TELEVISION WITH 150 CHANNELS AS WELL AS WIRELESS INTERNET FOR YOUR LAPTOP via Starlink. The photo of the interior is a bit old and shows a futon instead of the queen size bed that is there. There is also a door where the small rear window used to be. There is a general store in town within walking distance as well as the Log Cabin Restaurant and the Sun Dog store. A mountaineering store is also within walking distance. Soda Butte Creek is located across the road approximately 600' away. In addition to Yellowstone National Park, we are surrounded by the Absaroka Wilderness as well as the Gallatin National Forest. Great hunting, fishing, hiking, cross country skiing, snowmobiling, kayaking and wildlife viewing abounds. This small cabin makes a quiet and unique base-camp for a world of outdoor activities. Please note that it is an old hand built cabin. We have pine martens and foxes around constantly eating mice. I blame their laxness if any should appear. Cabin name was mislabeled. Dirty room and bed spread and blanket. Difficult access to outlets. Mouse trapped in trap. Larger gritter scratching and gnawing bottem of floor from under the cabin fro 3:00 AM until I stated moving in the AM. Sign identifying the VRBO. sign was very hard to see and covered by a flag which made it impossible to find the driveway. May 30, 2025 Liked: Location Disliked: Listing accuracy #### Close lodging to Yellowstone NE entrance We had a hard time locating our cabin when we arrived. The cabin we were in was wolfs crossing but it also had "the slough" on the cabin. Parking was horrible. It would be a great benefit to have marked parking slots for each cabin and then an extra vehicle parking area for those bringing more than one car. The bathroom was very tiny. The bed had springs that made noises whenever you sat on it. The listing said there was a stove top, there was not. And the small cabins are added on to a larger unit with a normal interior door separating them. This made it very noisy if your neighbors happened to be loud, or liked to sing.Everything else was fine. Overall this was an okay place to stay if you want a rustic experience with running water and power. There was a Yellowstone book in the cabin for guests to look through. There were chairs to use during your stay. There was also a phone in the room and decent wifi. We had been told before arriving that there was no cell coverage, which was accurate. Having wifi was a great convenience so we could plan our day and download directions and maps before heading out for the day. Overall our stay was okay. Location and wifi were the highlights. ##### Naomi L. Stayed 2 nights in May 2025 ### 8/10 Good #### Inga D. Jun 30, 2023 Liked: Cleanliness, check-in, location, listing accuracy #### Perfect location! This little cabin was in an ideal location for visiting Yellowstone and seeing lots of wildlife. If you plan to have meals, keep them very simple as there is only a microwave for cooking, and the stores nearby have limited stock and are very expensive. If you just need a place to sleep it is a wonderful and less expensive alternative to staying at the park lodges or hotels at the busier locations (west and north gates). ##### Inga D. Stayed 2 nights in Jun 2024 ### 2/10 Terrible #### Donna P. Jun 11, 2025 Disliked: Cleanliness, location, listing accuracy #### Trash Pictures are worth a 1000 words.. unfortunately I did not take any of our stay. The pictures online are definitely a far cry from what you are actually getting. We arrived after 10 pm which I do not suggest arriving after dark. The cabin ( I use that word loosely) was nothing more than someone’s shed that was makeshift in to lodging. The whole “cabin” rocked and swayed as you moved around. The only room you had was a path around the bed to move about. Foam spray in the walls is the only thing that kept the inside from the outside. Bathroom shower flooded the floor and the one towel we had to use to clean up. Water damage around the outlet of the bathroom wall so would not advise to plug anything in unless you wanted to become electrified. Felt like we were being eaten alive while we slept so that was a no go. Someone parked in front of our cabin so when we arrived we parked behind them since there was no where else to park. Was woke up at 6 am with them beating on the door asking us to move our vehicle. They were in the cabin behind us. Not sure why they parked at our cabin.. This cabin was rented for two nights but we left after the first one and found other lodging. Other cabins around had old junk In their yards ( old stoves, refrigerators, etc). I can’t believe that this place is allowed to be considered as lodging. Would not recommend staying here. ##### Donna P. Stayed 2 nights in May 2025 ### 8/10 Good #### Stephen R. Aug 4, 2023 Liked: Cleanliness, check-in, communication, location, listing accuracy #### Good little cabin so close to north east entrance to Yellowstone This is as advertised a rustic cabin close to the entrance to Yellowstone. Good bed and all you need. Our only deal is how close to the road it is, just a few feet. So our idea of chilling on the porch, which we did, was not what we expected. A stack of tires hampered the environment too. So good place, too close to noisy highway for us and a little effort on the surroundings would make it a much better stay. ##### Stephen R. Perfect little cabin for 1-2 people wanting to get away and relax. It is a little close to the road for my liking but its not too bad. Close to town and lots of beautiful scenery and hiking trails. The property manager John was very helpful and kind, going above and beyond to make your stay great. The locals are friendly. The Log Cabin Cafe food tastes great but its a coin toss as to whether they'll be open or not. Cooke city is only 3mi. away with a lot more modern conveniences, but I wasn't interested in that, lol. Ask around for Henry, he can tell you a lot about the area too. There's so much beauty to take pictures of and fresh air, and cute little squirrels and chipmunks too. So if you dont get a chance to spot any of the big animals there's still that. 😊 Over all, as far as I was concerned, it was perfect. ##### Rachel S. Aug 15, 2022 Liked: Cleanliness, location, listing accuracy Disliked: Check-in #### Peaceful Getaway The cabin itself was amazing, just as described and we enjoyed staying there. VERY quiet even though the road is close and the cabin itself was enclosed in a group of trees. We had rented the cabin for two nights and there was some miscommunication and we were not able to stay at the cabin the first night, however, the owner, Glenn did his best and was able to secure a hotel room in Silver Gate for us for the first night. Was a bummer because we truly would have enjoyed staying the two nights. John was great when we arrived Saturday morning and had everything set up for us at that time. I would agree with one of the other reviews that maybe the property could use a little "picking up", but the cabin itself was clean and comfortable. TONS of stuff to do in the mountains and in Silver Gate and Cooke City. We took advantage of a short horseback ride at Skyline Guest Ranch and the views were spectacular and our guide, Shelby was amazing and fun! Everyone was very nice and it was great to get away and just enjoy ourselves for a weekend! ##### Danesta K. Stayed 2 nights in Aug 2022 ### 10/10 Excellent #### Franchesca F. The property manager, John, and the property owner, Glenn, were great! Very responsive, very accommodating, and great hosts overall. We were a little uncertain about keeping our reservations due to the Yellowstone road wash outs blasted all over media but Glenn reassured us the trip would still be worthwhile and he was absolutely correct! The General Store in Silvergate was awesome in answering questions and suggesting beautiful hikes nearby and had great supply selections and tons of goats for sale. They are also renting electric assisted bicycles and we were able to ride bikes into the NE entrance to Yellowstone!! What a once in a lifetime experience! We highly recommend everyone to attempt to visit before they open the roads back up to motor vehicles. Silvergate and Cooke City were good to us. Beautiful scenery and quiet small towns and not far at all from Beartooth Scenic Highway and Chief Joseph Scenic Highway. ##### Franchesca F. Aug 1, 2022 Liked: Cleanliness, communication, location, listing accuracy Disliked: Check-in #### My DOLLAR'S be TRUTHFUL I was in touch with the Kentucky owner, Glen, immediately after I was aware of the Yellowstone flooding. I could have totally avoided the NE entrance to Yellowstone. We had thousands spent for this "dream of a lifetime", retirement vacation. I questioned you, Glen, if everything was open, with a reply of YES. PLEASE, be TOTALLY honest with your guest. You knew I was also asking about the NE entrance to Yellowstone, as you are only 1/2 mile app. from it. I guess I should not assume that you would have been honest in your answer. The ALMIGHTY DOLLAR must reign above GOD in your heart. Stand in your guest shoes, be a man of God, shame on you. John, your caretaker was the BEST, because of him, our time was great. But you Glen, I and the other renters that you possibly have misled deserve an apology. God bless you and have mercy upon you. (We were told by the NE entrance gate ranger, possibly 3 years before reopening that entrance because of the infrastructure that lays damaged throughout the park.) From a 1000 cars a day to 0. My heart hurts and I pray for financial struggles that lie ahead, for the communities of SilverGate and Cooke City. Remember, if you remain honest and truthful with God , he will show the way. Again, shame on you Glen Turner, you are not a struggling local of this wonderful community. ##### Patricia K. Stayed 4 nights in Jul 2022 ### 8/10 Good #### David R. Jul 5, 2023 Liked: Cleanliness, listing accuracy Disliked: Check-in, communication #### Celebrating our 50th Anniversary at Yellowstone! Overall, we were pleased. It met our needs and is a little bigger and better appointed than the pics of the inside of the cabin shows. There is a table and 2 chairs, a hanging hutch with dishes, and a repurposed desk to use as a food preparation station. There are coat pegs, wide window ledges, and shelves atop the bed posts that provide storage. We brought 2 TV trays and hanging shoe storage bag that were helpful. The TV trays made a luggage stand and a place to use the electric skillet we brought. (I'm glad I did because although a toaster oven was listed in the amenities, there isn't one. Also, TV useless.) The place is clean, the bed was comfortable, and it was quiet. Careful - Hot water in the shower can be a geyser. Check-in was nightmare. The email we received before traveling from VRBO said they did not have any instructions, to contact the property manager. We did not make a screen shot of the property info, so were lost upon arrival. No cell service or internet!! Laurie at SG Motel saved us by sharing WiFi. Found info, but Prop Mngr wouldn't answer. Went to address but did not look like pics enough to risk trying the door. Back to SG Motel, finally resolved with VRBO and the owner. (Owner was very nice.) But it took 2 hours. Cabin is beside a shabby shed, near other cabins, and has a table on the porch and name plaque near the door. We bear some blame for not trying the door (which was unlocked). The outside area of the cabin was unappealing. ##### David R. Stayed 6 nights in Jun 2023 ### 4/10 Poor #### Patricia Aug 20, 2025 Disliked: Cleanliness, amenities, property conditions & facilities The property was advertised as a stand alone, small cabin. In reality that stand alone, small cabin had a two story addition built onto it. There were guests staying in the other unit. The door between the unit had gaps where light came through and there was no sound insulation between them. So the property was not as advertised. The cabin was more or less clean where it mattered...though the porches and around the front had debris strewn about and were not swept or orderly. There was a coffee maker with filters and non-dairy creamer but NO COFFEE. Since this cabin was isolated, it was not convenient to drive to find coffee at 6 AM. Very disappointing. The little fridge did work nicely and the shower was nice and hot. I would stay there again only if I was assured there would be no guests in the other unit and I would be prepared with my own coffee. ##### Patricia Stayed 2 nights in Aug 2025 ## Expedia's Latest Trends ### Hotels > [Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites Great Falls by IHG](https://www.expedia.ca/Great-Falls-Hotels-Holiday-Inn-Express-Hotel-Suites-Great-Falls.h3837324.Hotel-Information) > > [Wingate by Wyndham Great Falls](https://www.expedia.ca/Great-Falls-Hotels-Wingate-By-Wyndham-Great-Falls.h8158.Hotel-Information) > > [Red Lion Hotel Kalispell](https://www.expedia.ca/Whitefish-Hotels-Red-Lion-Hotel-Kalispell.h40020.Hotel-Information) > > [Super 8 by Wyndham Kalispell Glacier National Park](https://www.expedia.ca/Whitefish-Hotels-Super-8-By-Wyndham-Kalispell-Glacier-National-Park.h459725.Hotel-Information) > > [Silverwolf Log Chalet Resort](https://www.expedia.ca/Whitefish-Hotels-Silverwolf-Log-Chalet-Resort.h11771711.Hotel-Information) > > [Holiday Inn Great Falls- Convention Center by IHG](https://www.expedia.ca/Great-Falls-Hotels-Holiday-Inn-Great-Falls-Convention-Center.h19923.Hotel-Information) > > [Glacier International Lodge](https://www.expedia.ca/Kalispell-Hotels-Glacier-International-Lodge.h24304507.Hotel-Information) > > [TownePlace Suites by Marriott Whitefish Kalispell](https://www.expedia.ca/Whitefish-Hotels-TownePlace-Suites-By-Marriott-Whitefish.h27015867.Hotel-Information) > > [My Place Hotel - Kalispell MT](https://www.expedia.ca/Whitefish-Hotels-My-Place-Hotel-Kalispell-MT.h35562202.Hotel-Information) > > [Hampton Inn Kalispell](https://www.expedia.ca/Whitefish-Hotels-Hampton-Inn-Kalispell.h41442.Hotel-Information) > > [O'Haire Inn](https://www.expedia.ca/Great-Falls-Hotels-OHaire-Motor-Inn.h893331.Hotel-Information) > > [Crystal Inn Hotel & Suites Great Falls](https://www.expedia.ca/Great-Falls-Hotels-Crystal-Inn-Hotel-Suites-Great-Falls.h799560.Hotel-Information) > > [Grouse Mountain Lodge](https://www.expedia.ca/Whitefish-Hotels-Grouse-Mountain-Lodge.h15527.Hotel-Information) > > [SpringHill Suites by Marriott Kalispell](https://www.expedia.ca/Whitefish-Hotels-SpringHill-Suites-By-Marriott-Kalispell.h15273529.Hotel-Information) > > [Heritage Inn](https://www.expedia.ca/Great-Falls-Hotels-Heritage-Inn.h29334830.Hotel-Information) > > [Whitefish Riverfront Hotel](https://www.expedia.ca/Whitefish-Hotels-The-Pine-Lodge-On-Whitefish-River.h8343327.Hotel-Information) > > [Kandahar Lodge at Whitefish Mountain Resort](https://www.expedia.ca/Whitefish-Hotels-Kandahar-Lodge-At-Whitefish-Mountain-Resort.h868703.Hotel-Information) > > [Homewood Suites by Hilton Kalispell, MT](https://www.expedia.ca/Whitefish-Hotels-Homewood-Suites-By-Hilton-Kalispell.h6289024.Hotel-Information) > > [Holiday Inn Express Kalispell by IHG](https://www.expedia.ca/Whitefish-Hotels-Holiday-Inn-Express-Kalispell.h1695930.Hotel-Information) > > [Meadow Lake Resort & Condos](https://www.expedia.ca/Whitefish-Hotels-Meadow-Lake-Resort-Condos.h884895.Hotel-Information) > > [Best Western Plus Riverfront Hotel & Suites](https://www.expedia.ca/Great-Falls-Hotels-Best-Western-Plus-Riverfront-Hotel-Suites.h531727.Hotel-Information) > > [The Great Falls Inn by Riversage](https://www.expedia.ca/Great-Falls-Hotels-The-Great-Falls-Inn-By-Riversage.h40031.Hotel-Information) > > [Wilderness Club](https://www.expedia.ca/Whitefish-Hotels-Wilderness-Club.h5236639.Hotel-Information) > > [Hilton Garden Inn Kalispell](https://www.expedia.ca/Whitefish-Hotels-Hilton-Garden-Inn-Kalispell.h1635509.Hotel-Information) > > [Best Western Plus Flathead Lake Inn And Suites](https://www.expedia.ca/Whitefish-Hotels-Best-Western-Plus-Flathead-Lake-Inn-And-Suites.h1080587.Hotel-Information) > > [Travelodge by Wyndham Kalispell](https://www.expedia.ca/Whitefish-Hotels-Travelodge-By-Wyndham-Kalispell.h1682703.Hotel-Information) > > [Stage Coach Inn](https://www.expedia.ca/West-Yellowstone-Hotels-Stage-Coach-Inn.h171708.Hotel-Information) > > [Best Western Rocky Mountain Lodge](https://www.expedia.ca/Whitefish-Hotels-Best-Western-Rocky-Mountain-Lodge.h2657281.Hotel-Information) > > [Comfort Inn Great Falls Central](https://www.expedia.ca/Great-Falls-Hotels-Comfort-Inn-Great-Falls.h14424.Hotel-Information) > > [Lodge at Whitefish Lake](https://www.expedia.ca/Whitefish-Hotels-Lodge-At-Whitefish-Lake.h1492496.Hotel-Information)
