We have two external security cameras on site to monitor our animals when we're not with them :)

At Gumnut Cottage Gippsland, we're committed to curating a retreat that seamlessly blends relaxation, adventure, and experiential delights. Your tranquil escape awaits – discover the true essence of Central Gippsland with us.

We leave the indoor fireplace fully stocked and ready to light with enough free firewood for approximately 2-3 hours of burning time during the cooler months (May - Mid September). We recommend you stop via a petrol station or Timberline (the local Heyfield General Store) to pick up some additional kindling and firewood if you plan to use the outdoor fire pit or use the fireplace over multiple days.

Located in a rural area, please note that fire restrictions apply at certain times of year (generally over the Summer and early Autumn months) prohibiting the use of the fireplace and outdoor fire pit. Please feel free to check in with us prior to booking to clarify if this is important to your stay.

Interaction with Guests:
Guests are welcome to call our mobile with any queries prior, during or post your stay. We are contactable 24/7 by guests staying on site. We do all we can to ensure exceptional memorable stays and are here to help!

A Magical Escape with Unforgettable Hospitality
Dear Mel, Our four-day escape to Gumnut Cottage was enchanting, thanks to your exceptional hospitality. From booking to departure, your superb communication made us feel welcome even before we arrived. The surprise photo shoot and the beautiful bouquet you arranged for our anniversary added a romantic touch to the cozy cottage. Gumnut Cottage, nestled among mountains, exceeded our expectations—clean, well-stocked, with charming company from sheep and chickens, especially Bob. The guest book detailed local gems, enhancing our exploration. As first-time tiny home occupants, Gumnut Cottage was perfect. Undoubtedly the best host and location we've experienced—outstanding amenities and thoughtful recommendations for attractions like Blue Gables Vineyard and Glenmaggie Weir Reserve (yes, we visited these :) ). It was great to meet you and your husband Tony in person. The amenities provided were outstanding, and your thoughtful recommendations for nearby attractions, like Blue Gables Vineyard and Glenmaggie Weir Reserve, enriched our experience. The cozy ambiance of the cottage and the presence of Bob and friends (sheeps) and chickens made our stay uniquely delightful. The couple pictures you took on our last day captured the essence of our special celebration, creating lasting memories. We're excited to see the pictures you captured, Mel. Thank you for turning our anniversary into a cherished memory. Can't wait to return to Gumnut Cottage. Warm regards, Meenu and Anoop

We stayed at Gumnut cottage just after the Gippsland floods, our host Mel kept us up to date and informed on any road closures. The property has amazing views and is well stocked with anything you might need to enhance your stay. We will definitely be back.

The perfect country getaway
My girlfriend and I had the most amazing stay at this beautiful property! The cabin was stunning- not only was it immaculately clean and organised, it had a lovely cozy and relaxed feel to it- ideal for a country escape. The cabin also provided picturesque views, the mountains were so mesmerising- we did not want to leave!! The location is also perfect too- just a short drive to some awesome towns like Maffra and Heyfield, we loved exploring them. Would especially recommend making the trip to Walhalla, a beautiful old country town with heaps to do (we rode on the railway- an awesome ride that takes you through the mountains, the views were incredible). Not to mention Mel was the most amazing and loveliest host you could ask for, she truly went above and beyond to make our stay so memorable. In summary, this cabin is the PERFECT country escape!!! We were so sad to leave, and will most definitely be back soon. Thank you Mel for having us, we appreciate everything you did to make our stay so enjoyable!
