Excellent location the hotel's old The staff are excellent Bar attached to the hotel is a wonderful bar. We use it every night My one complaint is that the mattress is very old and worn out. And we talk to the hotel staff and my only choice was to move to another room. The mattress would be the same, so it wasn't worth moving The staff were gonna move us if we wanted

The property was located in a quiet area but very walkable to the main attractions and plenty of restaurants nearby, only note that on Sundays the road in front of the hotel is closed for bikers so a 30sec walk to the corner to get a ride. The look of the room looks old and dirty, as well as the towels, but I feel that it's more old than actually dirty. Maybe a good bleaching of the towels will do and brighter lights will help. The staff is superbly helpful and friendly. The breakfast provided is very sufficient although the quality of coffee can be improved.

Foresta Hotel: A pleasant stay.
Hotel was a pleasant transition to cruise ship. Clean, convenient to city center. Staff extremely helpful. Breakfast included. Hotel is old but well maintained. Elevator works fine. Internet in room acceptable once one learns which server is closer to which room. Real gem: a piano bar in restaurant at night most enjoyable in a small setting.

Forests is a small hotel with interesting old fashioned decoration. Location is unbeatable to visit downtown Santiago and it’s main attraction. Great location also for restaurants and night life. Room is very spacious. The bed is small and has a bizarre shape (gets higher st the place for feet). The big con is the noise when the room faces the street. They would do much better with additional isolation windows and blackout curtains. Staff is kind and very helpful. We didn’t try breakfast. Place is clean and on the oldish end.

It is an old , small fashion hotel, in a quaint street facing Cerro Sta Lucia that is green and beautiful. It has an animatrd bar don Rodrigo with good music, very animated and good food. Close by is Barrio Lastarria with excellent dining offers and street shopping.

The room was simple, but very clean and comfortable. The area where this hotel is located is absolutely wonderful and perfect for a first time visitor like me : everything is accessible by foot and the neighbourhood has wonderful bohemian-chic vibes with great restaurants and parks! The staff is wonderful and friendly and the prices for the rooms are most excellent. The 2 restaurants in the hotel are excellent and convenient. I highly recommend.

The hotel is located near an intersection of several very busy roads. While this makes it convenient to get places to sightsee, it severely impacts the ability to sleep which is a key requirement of a hotel. The combination of the traffic noise, the pedestrian noise and the noise from the bar / restaurant means it was never quiet enough to sleep, the curtains don't do much to block out the street lighting either so the room was never dark. There was also an overwhelming smell of cigarette smoke in my room. The staff were friendly and the breakfast was, fine, I knew the hotel was an older style so that didn't bother me but I barely slept during my 3 night stay and I wouldn't recommend this hotel to light sleeps such as myself.

The room was more like a mini-apartment w/a small fridge a living room w/a couch in a very good area.Facilities look old and somewhat dingy but the neighborhood is walkable full of restaurants and the Santa Lúcia Park(Cerro in Spanish)is right in front.The park is adorable and is more like a botanical garden!The staff was pleasant and breakfast was a plus w/eggs, fresh coffee,cheese,ham and toast! Overall I enjoyed it.

Excellent Budgey Jotel
Efficient, friendly staff from check-in to check-out. Furnishings are worn and bed overly soft. Air conditioning and fan were welcome. Breakfast was simple and completely adequate. Price makes this a bargain. Many interesting sites in nearby walkabout.

I highly recommend NOT staying here at all!
This place is a total joke & needs to be deleted by Hotels.com. After booking 2 months in advance, I messaged them 5 times w/questions-no response. When I arrived, the front desk clerk stated that the wifi worked well. Lie. I went to my room on the 3rd floor & tried to connect-nothing. Came back down to the lobby. Was able to connect but ran a speedtest on line and was getting barely a handful of mbps. And that was RIGHT by the router/wifi receiver! Clerk FINALLY admitted it didn't really work-naturally after he had already run my CC. I looked up another hotel using my phone which had data, had the clerk call them w & confirmed their wifi was sufficient then booked them. Then it took the clerk almost an hour to get a taxi that I demanded Foresta pay for (about $2.50 US was the fare) so I could get to my new hotel. I sent a message via hotels.com to management the next day-of course, no response. I then e-mailed Foresta directly 3 weeks later-no response of course. Finally, I had to chat online & then have hotels.com call them using a Filipino rep offshore since the front desk claimed they don't speak any English (they do) since Filipinos speak Spanish. Foresta said they would only give me 1 of 2 nights back & then lied again saying they had NO IDEA how to refund my payment back to my CC. In the end, hotels.com decided to provide actual customer service by crediting back my payment directly by them. They will be reviewing this property & plan to delete it permanently soon.

Quaint
Foresta was a comfortable stay, the breakfast was lovely and while I appreciated the dated wallpaper and paintings (gave it an Auntie/TiTi feel) the floor could use carpet upgrading. They also need to upgrade credit card machines to take payment on site. Overall it was a clean, pleasant and friendly stay, I would stay there again.

Really liked the hotel. Very charming. Location is the best you can have in Santiago. Breakfast on the roof is so pleasant. The only problem is the noise from the street with a lot of traffic. Needs new windows.

I have happily stayed at Foresta over many years. It's an older place, full of charm. The rooms are small suites with a bed area and a nice sofa/TV area. Many of the rooms look out onto Cerro Santa Lucia and the hotel is well situated on the edge of the Bellas Artes area. BUT Unfortunately it has become run down. The rooms are in need of upgrading, The wall paper is peeling, tiles missing from bathroom, broken sink, worn cushions on the sofa, the blanket on the bed was old (needed replacing), water in the bottom of the fridge. Everything looked clean but tired. Breakfast usually looked out over the Cerro St Lucia but this time breakfast was amongst renovations. What a pity. It needs some love and care.

They should just close the place. I believe they did not do any update the building for 50 years. It was like a hotel for homeless people. Showed me three rooms and none have water running. You should see the dirt all over. The staff tried the best but handicapped with the condition of the hotel. I was afraid to catch something by staying there but too late to change to other hotel at close to midnight.

Overall, bad experience...the tub was rusted and leaking, making showers difficult. Wifi was terrible, so much so I had to buy a SIM card to get internet access. TV in the room didn't work, which I normally wouldn't have used but I didn't have internet so it was yet another disappointment. Positives were the mini fridge in the room, location is good, breakfast in the morning was very basic but again I appreciated it. Overall, they need to put some work into the washrooms, internet connection and little things like TV. It could be a nice hotel...could be

I only stayed at Foresta Hotel as a stop-gap but it met my expected needs. The owners and most of the staff are very friendly and accomodating. While the hotel obviously could use a refresh, it served my needs and had great service. As a note, they lock the door in the evenings so you'll need to ring the doorbell to gain access.

I honestly loved this hotel. I get that some people think it needs updating, but I really liked that it felt like a time capsule for another era I never lived in. The room was huge, the bed comfortable, the shower was good enough and the staff were helpful. The location was excellent too!

Friendly staff, very spacious room I was shocked there's a separate living room with fridge, bathroom which has hot shower and then another room with your bed, tv, wardrobe and heater/fan. My room was cleaned each day and the hotel is centrally located. Breakfast was good only issue maybe it coupe start earlier at 07:00 as its from 08:00-10:30 and when you're going on day trips you miss breakfast. Other than that no issues.

Centrally located and comfortable
This hotel is centrally located in downtown Santiago, next to Santa Lucia Hill, where you can get a good view of the city by walking to the lookout. Most of the major sights in downtown Santiago can be reached on foot from this hotel, and as the neighborhood is historic, there are interesting things to see by just walking around. The service was very good, the breakfast filling if not varied, and the rooms comfortable. Sometimes the cleaning service did not give enough towels or change the hand towels, but in general we had a very nice stay here and the reception staff was great. There's a nice bar operated by the hotel which is always filled at night.

Great value small hotel in Lastarria
I stayed at the Foresta Hotel for two days before heading out over the Andes. It was perfect for what I needed with a spacious suite-like accommodation with a sitting room with couch and separate bedroom. The staff were very helpful and friendly and one block over is the lovely main street for Barrio Lastarria a cobblestone street with many bars, restaurants where street vendors sell their products. I felt very safe there walking around at night by myself. Very good value, and cute hotel!

Watch out for scam
Night befor checkout we were presented with huge bill. Evening clerks said hotels.com wasn't the official, posted prices and we needed to pay the difference. We refused as our reservation was paid in full. Worried all night but we were able to leave next morning without paying more. Either the clerks or hotel was running a scam.

Great location close to town center
We found Foresta to be close to good food and drink, metro, shopping district, historical sites and museums. Liked the overall experience very much. We were happy to have a large, comfortable room w/ excellent "sitting room" overlooking the park, especially when too hot to be outside and for repacking at end of trip. Too late we discovered the "library" with various reading materials available. The staff was very helpful with directions to metro etc, although some spoke very little English. It was nice to have dinner available right there the first night after a long day of travel. Breakfast included toast, ham and cheese as well as sweet bread and coffee/tea.
