Danilo & Valentina The Esquilino district is the neighborhood bounded by Piazzale di Santa Croce in Gerusalemme, Via Merulana, and Termini Station. This central Rome neighborhood is just a stone’s throw from the world-famous Colosseum and the Monti district. The neighborhood is a true cultural melting pot and a blend of flavors, thanks to its many restaurants and ethnic food shops. You’ll also find numerous restaurants serving traditional Roman cuisine nearby, as well as bars, mini-markets, pharmacies, tobacco shops, home goods stores, bus stops, Metro Line A stations, and a Bitcoin ATM right in front of the building’s entrance. The street has everything you could need—all of which goes to show that this is a unique neighborhood, a must-experience destination to love and explore, where the past and future blend together. A BIT OF HISTORY ABOUT THE ESQUILINO NEIGHBORHOOD: Legend has it that in the Middle Ages, sorceresses and witches performed magical rituals in the Esquilino neighborhood. At the end of the 19th century, “Piazza Vittorio Emanuele II” was built, with its arcades and gardens forming the heart of the neighborhood. There are numerous sights to see nearby, such as Porta Maggiore, the Church of Santa Bibbiana (Bernini’s first architectural work), the Art Nouveau-style Ambra Jovinelli Theater, the Scala Santa—a staircase of 28 steps that, according to tradition, Jesus ascended from Pontius Pilate’s palace in Jerusalem—and much more, allowing you to feast your eyes on the most extraordinary beauties of the Eternal City. When visiting Rome, you’ll find yourself walking through an open-air museum. The area has plenty of public transportation and taxis, and with Termini Station in Esquilino, reaching every corner of Rome is easy and convenient. Termini is the terminus for many buses heading throughout Rome and also the hub for Metro lines “A” and “B.” Additionally, just a 3-minute walk away, near the “Metro A Manzoni” station, you can take Tram Line 3, which will take you to the Colosseum in just a few minutes—or, if you prefer, directly to Trastevere Station. Metro Line An is easy to reach, given its proximity to the front door; right on the street, you’ll find two Metro A stops (Vittorio Emanuele and Manzoni). With Metro Line A, you can reach major attractions such as Barberini, Piazza di Spagna, Piazzale Flaminio, and, last but not least, Ottaviano Station (St. Peter’s and the Vatican Museums). Bus stops right outside the building: 360 - Toward Piazza Risorgimento 590 - Toward Piazzale delle Muse Smoking is not permitted inside the apartment, but if you go to the master bedroom, you’ll find a small but cozy outdoor area equipped with a small table and an ashtray for smoking.
