Sleeps 3 & 1 dog, w/ WiFi & pub nearby! Sandpiper Cottage is a welcoming and cosy traditional Yorkshire Dales holiday cottage located on the hillside overlooking the Swale Valley. The nearby village of Low Row nestles amongst the famous flower meadows of Swaledale in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales National Park. Sandpiper is an end terrace holiday cottage of three and is accessed via a farm track (250 yards from the road), and as the end-terrace, allows you to enjoy the beauty of Swaledale from this prime spot. Historically this area of Swaledale was known for its thriving lead mining industry so you will not be surprised that Sandpiper was part of a former lead miner’s cottage. This dales holiday cottage still has many of the original features but has been lovingly decorated to a high, modern finish and is heated by super warm ceramic radiators throughout with the added benefit of a multi-fuel stove. Sandpiper is an extremely spacious holiday cottage, with a fantastic open plan downstairs living area. The living room is welcoming after an adventurous day touring the dales, as seats up to three people very comfortably on a new comfy sofa in front of the warmth of the traditional multi-fuel stove. The living room leads through to the kitchen and dining area. The kitchen is a cook’s dream with electric oven, induction hob and an extensive range of cooking utensils, pans and crockery that will be most adequate for the duration of your break. You’ll love dining at the table that sits in front of the original barn doors with fabulous views of the dales that can be enjoyed over breakfast, lunch and dinner. On the warmer days the garden furniture and barbeque will facilitate dining alfresco with panoramic views of Swaledale. There is also a chiminea for additional warmth when it becomes a little chilly, this will enable you to enjoy the great natural outdoor environment that little bit longer. The gallery style master bedroom is located above the living room, with the small single bedroom and bathroom accessed from it. This makes Sandpiper holiday cottage ideal for a couple enjoying a romantic or action packed break or a family with one child. A baby can also be accommodated as a travel cot is available. Sandpiper Cottage is one of our dog friendly holiday cottages, one well behaved dog welcome. There are a number of dog friendly pubs in the area and plenty of walks locally which make this dales holiday cottage an ideal choice if you are looking for pet friendly accommodation. The cottage is perfect for anyone looking to explore the dale by foot or on wheels as there are walks straight from the door. this holiday cottage also offer secure bike storage! Sandpiper has private parking to the rear of the holiday cottage and is located about a 10 minute walk from the local pub, The Punch Bowl. The Punch Bowl was refurbished only a few years ago, and offers great hospitality, superb food and excellent ale! To ensure your stay is as comfortable as possible all kitchen linen, bed linen and towels are provided. Electric and logs are included in the rental price. Layout Downstairs there is an open plan living room, kitchen and dining area. Upstairs there is a gallery style master bedroom located above the living room, with the small single bedroom and bathroom accessed from it. Sleeping Arrangements 1 King bedroom 1 Single bedroom accessed off the king bedroom Exterior Shared terrace and garden area with washing line and garden furniture. A shed for secure bike storage and log store. Private parking is to the rear of the cottage. Local Area Situated in a rural position high on a hill with fabulous views of the Swaledale Valley. Getting there When using the cottage postcode in your satellite navigation, please be aware that this may not direct you to the exact cottage location. On reaching the village of Low Row on the B6270 (from the direction of Reeth), turn sharp right onto the steep Langthwaite Road, just prior to the Punch Bowl Inn situated on the right. Drive over the cattle grid and take the first farm track on the left. Travel approx. 250m past the detached property on the left (called Bird’s Nest Close). You will see Sandpiper’s white barn door (your dining room window) and you can park alongside, leaving access through the gate. Accessibility The property is not wheelchair accessible. There is one small step onto the terrace to access the cottage. There is a standard staircase to the first floor with a sturdy handrail. The bathroom has a bath with a shower over, so you do need to step over the bath side to use the shower. There is one step from the bedroom into the bathroom and second bedroom. There is a step from the kitchen to the dining area. And yet the cottage has been painstakingly updated inside, with every comfort and amenity attended to. The bed is comfortable; the bath is modern; there's a fantastic wood-stove. And the owners have provided wonderful maps and suggestions for walks in the area. You're just up the hill from the Punch Bowl, a gastro-pub with good food.
