Fairly comfortable but very basic. Very quiet though and in a lovely position. Breakfasts not available other than an 'in your room' pack which was poor and expensive - we only had it once out of 3 mornings, poor value. The pub is nice, and the two young ladies we dealt with were really pleasant and helpful. The evening meal was good value. The property, on the other hand, left much to be desired. Our room was really dirty, stains on the carpet, cobwebs, and thick with dust on the headboard. There was a patio area with our room, covered in last autumn’s leaves (we stayed 2nd August), and in the beer garden the tables and benches looked way past their best, a couple broken beyond use. We thought that perhaps many years ago, it was probably really nice, but now it is desperately in need of maintenance and proper cleaning. We stayed one night for an event at Stonor Park the next day, but we wouldn’t have wanted to think we had to stay a second night. When we advised the member of staff that we had already paid for breakfast she confirmed that it would be provided at no extra cost. When the breakfast basket arrived for the first morning it consisted of two fruit juices, instant porridge x2, an apple, an orange and two croissants well past their best before dates with a selection of preservatives! And to top it all we didn’t have a breakfast basket delivered for the second morning! We feel that there was plenty of opportunity to advise us about the breakfast situation beforehand so that we could make alternative arrangements. The bathroom fittings were in a very poor state of repair, the shower control was incomplete, the water outlet for the bath had dropped and was surrounded by mouldy sealant, the sink tap was very loose with lots of limescale and the sink plug did not seal. We have stayed here previously albeit a little while ago with no complaints at all. We feel that the accommodation is very tired and neglected. Lovely old fashioned pub/accommodation. The rooms were small but cosy. Coffee and tea facilities and everything we needed for our stay. Although we didn't eat there the food looked really nice, and they serve a few guest ales. All in all was quite a nice place and would stay there again if visiting the area.
