Warm and cozy, very clean and ready for us to step in and enjoy. I had read about the fishing, so I brought along my fly rod, and was very pleasantly surprised to find the location is walking distance to a nice trout creek and a lake! If spring break was two weeks, we would have stayed longer! We’ll return someday, hopefully sooner than later. Oh, almost forgot to mention, it’s doggy friendly and has a fenced yard! Having a full kitchen and washer/dryer was so convenient. The place is well stocked, and comfortable. The weather was pleasant. We never needed the AC but used the fireplace every evening. We really enjoyed grilling one of the rainbow trout we caught in Lake Pactola and relaxing on the covered patio. We also enjoyed watching the deer that ate grass in the front yard most mornings. The trail across the street is a wonderful place for a morning walk and we also walked the paved trails around Canyon Lake. It was a short drive to restaurants and stores. We didn't bring our dog this time but the cabin is perfect for vacationers with a furbaby. The location put us close to both Mount Rushmore and the Badlands. We also visited Custer State Park, the Crazy Horse monument/Museum, Deadwood, Bear Country USA, and the cute little reptile zoo. Rapid City has lots to offer. I got a massage, shopped, and browsed a couple book stores. Check in was easy and Chad and Tara are quick to respond. This little place was just perfect for our trip. We loved it. ##### Ruth S. It’s close to all amenities in Rapid City. The cabin has had a lot of renovating, yet keeping the cute nostalgic look. Pros would include a lovely front yard view, in-house washer/dryer, microwave, refrigerator, oven, coffeemaker, A/C in one bedroom and kitchen area, TV, BBQ with a small lovely patio with furniture, fenced in grass area for dogs. Cons would include no A/C in the second bedroom, creaking floor in the bathroom, and a shortage of outlets throughout the cabin. (Needed for charging purposes) We enjoyed our 10 day stay, walking along Canyon Lake and enjoying our ice cream in the evenings. It was in the 90 temps during our visit. The location was amazing, so many people walking and biking on the near paths, we walked our dogs down to the lake / river for some exploring and they loved it. We particularly loved being right in the middle of both Wind Cave and Badlands National Parks as that was one of our main reasons for visiting South Dakota. It was also very quick and easy to get to food and stores as needed. The house itself was comfortable and had everything we needed. Despite being right off the road with a lot of foot traffic too even being in the backyard felt very quiet and private (even in 4th of July!!). It is a small 2BR home - not a 5-star hotel. It was a very nice stay and the owners were very responsive. Loved the ice cream truck down the street (opens at 1:00), and the short hike to the ridge top and large cross above the church - great view of the lake. This was a short trip for a long weekend so we wanted to be closer to RC for convenience. We couldn't ask more for the property, it's cozy, easy to get to anything we needed in RC and beyond.
