1. SPREE. Hotel am Hafen

Lübbenau/Spreewald

"A wonderful hotel. Very premium and modern aesthetic. Hotel has minimal amenities like soap and hotel slippers and hair dryer only so you need to bring your own shampoo or toothbrush. Breakfast buffet is great. Will stay there again if we hit the area. Location is great , near the tourist boat tour. But there’s nothing much to do other than biking , and walking around a small riverside/nature area. The neighboring Lehde town is cute but super tiny. Can’t imagine being here more than 2 nights."

"Had a one night stay as we were driving through the area. Cons: No AC in the room, and it was WARM. Old and rock hard beds. Rooms were very loud, and i could hear my neightbour snoring just as well as i heard the traffic from the autobahn. Breakfast was ok. Not too much to choose from, but for the price of the stay i guess it was ok. Pros: Easy and accessible parking. Friendly staff. Very close to the Autobahn, easy choice when you are just travelling through the area."

Tropical Islands Resort

10/10 Excellent

"Overall a really fantastic stay and can’t wait to return. When we arrived it was very difficult to establish where to check in as multiple check-in locations were closed. Eventually when we did check in, they will never check you in early - they even suggest you park your car at the lodge, which is strange as you can see your lodge available and ready to use but the key doesn’t work till 3pm. Then when it was 3pm we walked back to the lodge only from the hangar to find the key didn’t work so had to walk back to the desk (15 minute walk each way) whilst my wife had to feed our crying baby on the steps of the lodge. Other than that, it’s such a cool place and our lodge was lovely. The restaurant in the tiki bar, was absolutely fantastic and was way above our expectations. The wristband system for paying for everything is dangerously easy! As mentioned, we travelled with a baby and aside from the check-in process, it really was perfect as the water is a lovely temperature and no danger of being cold out of the water in tropical climate of the hangar. We had Amazonian lodge with a sauna and it was brilliant. As stated before it’s a 10-15 minute walk which is fine (as long as your key works..!)"

Watermill located in a SECLUDED SPOT by the river, A CYCLIST'S PARADISE

10/10 Excellent

"Wir wurden sehr herzlich von unserer Gastgeberin empfangen. Besonders schön fanden wir , dass alles mit viel Liebe zum Detail hergerichtet war und man nicht das Gefühl hatte in einer Ferienwohnung zu sein. Besonders haben wir die Abgeschiedenheit und die Ruhe genossen. Vielen Dank, wir würden wiederkommen."

Schloss Lübbenau im Spreewald

10/10 Excellent

"I was there for my birthday. The facility was lovely and historic. Room was huge with pretty view of the city. Breakfast buffet was good with a big selection. Only thing was they didn’t make my birthday special. Just gave me two tiny chocolates lol. With all the money spent there they could have atleast given me a slice of cake. I had breakfast and dinner there, nothing not even a welcome fruit platter. They sure have no idea to celebrate :-("

Frequently asked questions

What is the best area to stay in Ragow?

The best area to stay in Ragow is generally around the Scharmützelsee, particularly in the areas of Bad Saarow and Wendisch Rietz, which offer excellent access to the lake and its amenities.

Bad Saarow is the most developed and well-known area, situated on the western shore of the Scharmützelsee. It's known for its spa facilities, the SaarowTherme, and its promenade along the lake, which is superb for strolls. You'll find a variety of hotels, restaurants, and shops here, making it a convenient base for exploring the region. The area around Seestraße and Am Kurpark is particularly central.

Couples looking for a relaxing retreat will find Bad Saarow ideal. The presence of high-quality spa resorts and direct access to the lake for activities like boat trips or simply enjoying the views provides a tranquil setting. There are also several golf courses nearby for those who enjoy the sport.

For families, Wendisch Rietz, on the southern tip of the lake, is an excellent option. It offers a more relaxed, family-friendly atmosphere with holiday parks and direct access to beaches suitable for swimming.

When is the best time to go to Ragow?

The best time to visit Ragow is generally during the late spring (May to June) and early autumn (September to October) months. These periods offer pleasant weather, ideal for exploring the Brandenburg region.

Late spring sees temperatures ranging from 15°C to 22°C (59°F to 72°F). The countryside is lush and green, and the longer daylight hours allow for extended outdoor activities like cycling along the Spreewald canals or visiting the local parks. It's a great time for couples who enjoy scenic walks and peaceful boat trips.

Early autumn brings slightly cooler, crisp air, with temperatures typically between 12°C and 18°C (54°F to 64°F). The changing colours of the leaves create a beautiful backdrop for exploring, particularly around the many lakes and forests. This season is great for solo travellers or couples looking for a relaxed getaway with opportunities for hiking and enjoying regional cuisine in a comfortable setting.

While summer (July and August) is also popular, it can be busier and hotter, sometimes reaching above 25°C (77°F). Winter (November to April) is much colder, with temperatures often below freezing, and many outdoor attractions may have reduced opening hours.
