Decided to stay at Baan Penny during a 1 day visit in Ayutthaya. Chose this hotel for its close proximity to the temples and based on previous visitor reviews. I was so glad to have stayed here! I was nicely welcomed by staff and by Gerhard (owner of the hotel). Gerhard then showed me my bungalow, the facilities, then arranged to lend me a bicycle (available to guests) so I can leisurely tour all of Ayutthaya. He even gave me maps and key tips on which temples to visit, attractions I shouldn't...

Nicely located, walking distance to many places to eat, across from the local hospital which would be convenient if you were in need of any medical attention.

This hotel is good value for money. I found the room spacious and comfortable. It is quite convenient to the various old temple sites and even has one directly across the road, plus it sits between two active temples well worth visiting.
I highly recommend the car service provided by the hotel, either for touring the local sites or for travel on to another destination.
Its one failing is an apparent lack of nearby (easy walking) dining options other than a handful of street food places. I highly...

After walking through a “ rough” market area we were so pleasantly surprised to enter the property gates and see the beautiful building ahead, nicely set back from the road. The front staff were quick to pour up orange infused ice water and warmly welcome us. Our basic room was huge, spotless and equipped with all the toiletries we could need in large containers. We enjoyed restful sleeps thanks to lovely crisp white sheets and duvets. We loved the great choices for breakfast at just 199 baht....

The best area to stay in Pho Sao Han is around the Ayutthaya Historical Park, particularly on the island formed by the rivers.
This central area is the main draw for visitors, as it's where the majority of the ancient temple ruins and historical sites are located. You'll find many guesthouses, small hotels, and restaurants dotted along streets like Naresuan Road and around the periphery of the park. It's highly walkable for exploring the main temples, and you can easily rent bicycles or tuk-tuks to get around.
For couples interested in history and culture, staying near the historical park offers unparalleled convenience. You'll be within easy reach of temples such as Wat Mahathat and Wat Phra Si Sanphet, allowing for early morning or late afternoon visits to avoid crowds and experience the sites in a more tranquil setting.
When is the best time to go to Pho Sao Han?
The best time to visit Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya is during the cool, dry season, which runs from November to February.
During these months, you'll experience pleasant temperatures, typically ranging from 20°C to 30°C, making it ideal for exploring the historical park and its many outdoor attractions. There's very little rainfall, so you can count on clear skies for sightseeing and photography. This period is great for those who want to comfortably wander around the ancient temples and ruins without the intense heat or humidity.
Couples often find this season particularly enjoyable as they can take romantic boat trips along the rivers surrounding the city or explore the night markets in comfort.
