Find hotels in Petrovija from CA $80

The best area to stay in Petrovija is the immediate vicinity of the village centre, particularly for those seeking a tranquil base with convenient access to local amenities and the surrounding Istrian countryside.

Petrovija itself is a small, quiet village, making the area around its central church and main square the most practical choice. Here, you'll find a handful of local eateries and shops, and it serves as a good starting point for exploring the rural landscape. The area is characterised by traditional Istrian stone houses and vineyards.

Couples looking for a relaxing escape will find this area particularly appealing. Accommodation often includes charming villas or guesthouses with private pools and views of the olive groves and vineyards. It's an excellent spot for enjoying quiet evenings and experiencing the authentic pace of Istrian life, with easy drives to coastal towns like Umag or Novigrad.

For families, staying in a villa just outside the village centre offers more space and privacy. These properties often come with gardens and private swimming pools, providing a comfortable and contained environment for children to play.

The best time to go to Petrovija is during the late spring (May to early June) or early autumn (September to early October) when the weather is pleasant for outdoor activities and the crowds are smaller.

Late spring offers warm, sunny days great for exploring the Istrian countryside, visiting local vineyards, or enjoying coastal walks. The temperatures are comfortable, typically ranging from 20-25°C, making it ideal for those who enjoy being active without the intense heat of mid-summer. This period is also excellent for couples looking for a romantic escape, as the region is in full bloom and there are plenty of opportunities for scenic drives and leisurely meals at local tavernas.

Early autumn provides similar agreeable weather, with temperatures often hovering around 20-24°C. The sea is still warm enough for swimming, and the grape harvest season begins, offering unique opportunities to experience local culture at wine festivals. This time is particularly good for food and wine enthusiasts, as many local restaurants feature seasonal produce and newly pressed olive oil.
