The view of the lake was beautiful and one of the highlights of our stay.However, there were a few areas that could use improvement. There was a noticeable overall smell in the cabin that was hard to overlook. The exterior of the property needs some attention—power washing the house, deck, outdoor furniture, and kayaks would go a long way in making the space more inviting and comfortable to use. Privacy was also a concern, as the windows on the back of the home did not have curtains. Additionally, one of the kayaks we used was taking on water and was completely full by the time we returned to the dock, which could be unsafe.Overall, with some care and maintenance, this place could be great, especially given its location in regards to being on the lake and amenities. ##### Terry H. The lake house itself was in a great location, and the inside was very clean and well-stocked with everything I needed for my stay.My only suggestion would be to give the outside space a little more attention. I was looking forward to sitting by the water to enjoy the sunsets, but most of the chairs near the lake were either broken or hadn’t been cleaned in a while. There were plenty of kayaks available, which was great, but many of them seemed weathered, and the new canoes didn’t have all the parts readily accessible. I understand it can be hard to keep things in order with different guests using them, but maybe some organized storage or a quick check between rentals could make a big difference.Even just a good power wash and removal of unusable furniture would go a long way in keeping the outdoor space as inviting as the lake house itself. The deck furniture was lovely, but it would have been nice to have a few clean, sturdy chairs right by the water for guests to relax and enjoy the view.Overall, I had a wonderful stay—the setting is beautiful, and the home was comfortable. It’s minutes away from Petit Jean State Park, which is where we spent our daytime hours hiking. The property was absolutely as advertised on VRBO. Jason, the property owner, was easily accessible, very friendly, and quick to respond when I sent him messages. There was absolutely everything we needed, less the groceries we brought, and much more. Seriously, when I say much more, I mean much more……plenty of towels, coffee (even Community Dark Roast for the Louisiana girl in me, laundry supplies, you name it, it was there. The sunsets were spectacular. We even spent some time in the lake to cool off. The price was amazing for what we received and I look forward to staying agin in the future. ##### laura w. However, I did not read the entire listing where it mentions the back lot and amenities are shared with the house next door. As we were unloading, three car loads of people showed up at the house next door with a couple of kids. They ended up taking over the entire back area and when I messaged the owner, he let me know that the amenities in the back yard were shared. Not his fault but mine for not reading. I do wish it was listed somewhere in the VRBO listing in large print that the back area and amenities are shared. We ended up leaving a day early and were disappointed in our stay. It did not disappoint! We spent two days there with plenty to do. The afternoon sunsets on the Lake were some of the best picture captured.
