  • Popa cottage is a spacious, modern, three-bedroom holiday home at Harlyn Bay, Cornwall, just a short, two-minute walk to one of Britain’s most beautiful sandy beaches, perfect for surfing, long walks and picnics and close to idyllic Padstow. No need to get the car out to go to the beach! Dogs are welcome in the cottage and on the beach!

    Located at ‘Polmark Beach Cottages’ a small complex of accommodation surrounded by stunning rural scenery, Popa provides a tranquil and cosy base to relax after a day at the beach. Perfect for families or small groups of friends, the cottage comprises open plan living space with a well-equipped kitchen and three bedrooms, including a master en-suite.

    Derek and Steph have recently acquired this cottage and whilst it is an ideal holiday home they plan to continue a programme of home improvements to make the cottage even better. A new kitchen and family bathroom have been installed and the patio area has been decked with a comfy rattan-styled corner suite added. The cottage has everything you might need and is close to some super eateries. (Cornish Arms, The Pig Hotel and Duchy Grub!).

    Dogs are welcome in the cottage as well as on the beach.

Lovely and spacious accomodation, with full amenities. Great location just minutes from an excellent large beach (with its own well catered facilities); a shop / cafe and tap bar just 5 mins walk away; and a bus that goes into Padstow that passes nearby. Also a large supermarket 5 mins drive away. The development of cottages that the property is located on, is very well maintained (as is the property itself) and quiet.

Popa cottage is ideally situated for a proper Cornish break. Close to Harlyn Bay for surfing. Close to Padstow for retail therapy and the Camel Trail. Easy walking distance to The Pig for fine dining. The cottage itself is very well appointed making for a very comfortable stay. Lovely time had by all!

Absolutely wonderful

The photos do not do the place justice! It was so clean and tidy and every little thing has been thought about. All the beds slept in were very comfy. Not very far from the beach at all and we are definitely hoping to come back again next year.

Great location

Although it doesn’t have views, it was a very short walk to the beach which was great- no hassle with parking or traffic . The accommodation was very nice and the new kitchen made it feel bright and summery . Had all the things one needed (except a tea pot!) . Harlyn Beach was excellent- good surf , life guards during summer , a cafe/bar/ at the beach side .

Fabulous cottage

We spent 10 days in this delightful and well equipped cottage. We were only two people so plenty of room, but it would have been comfortable for a small family. The kitchen had all we needed, the deck out the back was a great little sun trap, and the cottage is a two minute walk to Harlyn Bay. There is a bus to NewQuay and Padstow right on the doorstep. We loved this cottage and would definitely stay again.

Fantastic as always.

We have stayed here a number of times. The house is well situated, quiet and a short stroll to the beach. It has everything thing you need. It is very clean. I even met and thanked the ladies who keep it that way on a weekly basis. The owners are a delight to deal with. It is my happy place.

More spacious than expected, really clean/tidy and well appointed / equipped with Cornishware and capsule coffee machine plus practical things like Tupperware/foil, selection of herbs/spices, proper washing up liquid and more than one dishwasher tablet! Host quick to respond to query beforehand and we appreciated flexible check-in and easy parking after a long journey. Nice communal BBQ area and outside shower. Loved the location - close to dog friendly beach with cafe/bar and shop only 5mins drive away. WiFi was a bit flaky but thankfully wasn’t a priority for us on this visit. Thank you for a lovely week!

What a great property. Had a four night mid-week break in June and wanted somewhere close to the beach. This was ideal. Walk to the beach and pub takes mere minutes. I would advise that there are no pavements walking to and from the beach/pub and there is a bit of a hill to climb up - just bear this in mind if you have mobility issues, small children or pets. The house was clean on arrival and well presented and was a good size. Hosts were quick to respond to any questions. Would definitely stay here again.

The house exceeded our expectations. It was comfortable, clean, well decorated, well equipped and dog-friendly. The location was great, within a few hundred metres of the beautiful sandy Harlyn Bay and the coastal path. The Harlyn taproom is just round the corner for food and drinks, with fish and chips and a small grocery store nearby in St Merryn. We also enjoyed eating at The Cornish Arms near St Merryn.

We had a fantastic stay over Easter and couldn’t have asked for a better holiday home. The property is in an excellent location, just a short walk from the beach, which made it perfect for relaxing days by the sea.Inside, everything was very comfortable, spotlessly clean, and thoughtfully equipped with everything we could possibly need during our stay. Beautiful place, perfect for beach, it really is 2 mins walk. Beautiful sandy beach, dog friendly. The house was just perfect, we stayed 2 weeks, only thing I would say is could have done with a bigger freezer. Definitely be back!
