The best time to go to Ottenby is during the spring (April to June) and autumn (August to October) months, which are peak bird migration seasons.During these periods, the Ottenby Bird Observatory is exceptionally active, offering organised tours and opportunities to observe a wide variety of migratory birds. The weather is generally mild, making it ideal for exploring the nature reserve's walking trails and enjoying the scenic coastal landscape.Couples interested in nature walks and birdwatching will find these months particularly rewarding. The longer daylight hours in spring and early autumn provide ample time to explore the lighthouse, the nature reserve, and the various observation points around the southern tip of Öland. For those looking for a quieter experience with good chances of seeing wildlife without the peak crowds, late summer (August) can be a lovely time.
