Bring your canoes, kayaks or paddle boards to explore this unique lake with rocky shorelines and beautiful views. Fully-furnished kitchen with propane appliances. Propane lights throughout the house or flip a switch for electric lights (Kohler generator). On-demand hot water, propane monitor, wood stove, recessed lighting, charcoal grill, large stone fire pit, picnic table, and outdoor seating. Unplug and unwind with a library of books, boardgames, and cribbage (Aroostook County favorite). Bring the whole family - friendly, well-behaved dogs welcome - and don't forget the kids' bikes. Feel free to gather dead wood and fallen branches for firewood across the road (part of the lake house property). Skitacook Lake hosts resident loons, wild rabbits, turtles, and the occasional moose. It was quiet, comfortable, there was a dock to swim off, a raft to swim to, it was private, it hit all the best amenities of staying at a lake. My kids want to live there now (9 and 11 years old). It was really clean, had everything (I mean everything) you need to stay there. We ended up staying an extra night. The communication was very good. Everything was made easy for us. It's close to a few small grocery stores and pizza places, and is a little over an hour the the northern part of Baxter State Park. We went hiking and canoeing there one day during our stay. Beds were all comfortable with plenty of extra blankets if needed. It really is a wonderful place, enough space to spread out and relax. The lake was lovely and you could see right to the bottom. We enjoyed kayaking, boating, frog catching and fishing. The neighbors were friendly and quiet. A great place to relax and unwind in nature but still with all the comforts of home. Each room had extra power banks plugged in so no worries about losing a charge when the generator is off. We had everything we needed and more! Camp fires at night under the starts was a dream and so relaxing. We would come again! I couldn't say enough wonderful things about our stay at this property and we are already thinking of when to plan our next trip. You can tell the host and their family think of everything when it comes to their home. We had the lake to ourselves during the week. We felt very welcomed and talked to the friendly neighbors when they happened by. Our dog and our toddler couldn't stay out of the water. We were remote, private, heard the loons, and saw the stars.
