Torran Cottage - The Highland Cottage with a Piano
8/10 Good
"The holiday cottage is well equiped, everthing is really fine. But take into consideration that the location is only to reach via single track road through rocky mountains."

10/10 Excellent

"Lovely little stay while doing the NC500! Can’t recommend this place enough, so full of character and charm. Great facilities, lots of games, CD’s, books and small goodies in the kitchen. Didn’t need to use the log burner but I can imagine how lovely this would be in the colder months. Place was lovely and clean with a great shower too. The host is great, popped in to say hi and give recommendations too! Was just round the corner if we needed anything, offered more logs, laundry facilities etc! Would definitely stay again!"
Holiday Let In Stunning Location, Great For Families And Outdoor Enthusiasts
8/10 Good
"Stoer Villa has an excellent location particularly for walkers and fishing, Do not be put off by its proximity to the NC 500 - simply not an issue limited traffic and just not aware of it inside. Kitchen is well fitted with all conveniences. Very good showers in the kitchen area and the en-suite upstairs. Double bed was comfortable and twin beds OK. Internet was weak."
"Perfect location, heating took a while to warm the pod, shower and bath both great.
The sign is missing for parking so not obvious where you should park. Other than that it was almost a 5 out of 5! "
The best area to stay in Nedd is within the village itself or the immediate surrounding crofting townships, offering a blend of traditional Highland life and direct access to the stunning Assynt landscape.
Nedd village centres around a small cluster of homes, a community hall, and the well-known Nedd Bridge, which spans the River Nedd as it flows into the sea loch. It's a peaceful area, characterised by its remote setting and the dramatic scenery of mountains meeting the sea. This area is great for couples seeking a tranquil escape and direct access to nature.
For those interested in exploring the wider Assynt area, staying in one of the nearby crofting townships like Drumbeg or Stoer provides a similar experience with added opportunities for coastal walks and wildlife spotting. These areas offer a genuine sense of Highland community, with local craft shops and small eateries often run by residents. Families often find these locations ideal due to the open spaces and opportunities for outdoor activities like beachcombing or gentle hikes.
When is the best time to go to Nedd?
The best time to visit Nedd, Scotland, is during the late spring and summer months, from May to September, when the weather is generally milder and the days are longer.
During May and June, you'll experience longer daylight hours, often with fewer midges than in the peak summer months. The landscape is lush and green, and the wildflowers are in bloom, making it ideal for walking and exploring the natural beauty of the Assynt region. Temperatures are comfortable for outdoor activities, typically ranging from 10°C to 15°C.
July and August offer the warmest weather, with average temperatures around 15°C to 18°C, though it can occasionally reach higher. This is the peak season for visitors, and while Nedd itself remains a quiet village, nearby attractions and popular walking routes might be busier. The longer days allow for extended exploration of the coastline, lochs, and mountains.
September is another excellent month to visit. The crowds begin to thin, and the weather is often still pleasant, with the added bonus of autumn colours starting to appear in the landscape. Temperatures are cooler, typically between 10°C and 14°C, but still comfortable for outdoor pursuits.
