Very traditional and in such an old building it cannot be totally 100% modern conveniences. If you want slick and modern go somewhere else but as an informal traditional style, reasonably priced guesthouse/backpacking hostel it was great. The owner was very welcoming and gave us lots of tips for the local area and is obviously very proud of her guesthouse and Nara. We had a beautiful room with a view of the garden to wake up to. We also had the opportunity to sleep on tatami mats, which won’t suit everyone but at least we can say we tried it.
