Our room was unexpectedly warm for the time of year, despite radiators being turned-down but there was already a good fan in the room to counter this. But the real problem became clear when the fire alarm went off at 1.30am. All guests vacated the property expecting a member of staff to appear to take charge. There was no memer of staff onsite which if we'd been informed of this and given contact details that would have been fine. there were no fire notices anywhere and no contact number for emergencies. We rang 999 and 2 fire engines turned up. They tried to track down any fire but couldn't access the pub part of the building and despite online searches couldn't find a contact for a keyholder. we gave them our keys to the guest side of the property and they found no fire on that side but found a staff bedroom with no staff but a set of keys to the pub side. No fire there but no way to turn off the fire alarm. After an hour a local member of the public tried to help, went to a staff member's house but couldn't raise them. After 2 hours a staff member was found and at 3,30am we went back to bed.
