Superb location and venue. Delightful pub with top cask ale and the food was sublime. Breakfast was fabulous. Staff were highly friendly and attentive. The only negative was the electric shower which was very temperamental and low pressure. A real treat though overall.

The meals were excellent both for quality and price, staff very helpful. The bed was comfortable however the windows did not close entirely. It was quite warm so not a major problem for us but the windows needed refurbishment so they be opened or closed easily. The electric shower was very weak. These issues were relatively minor given the pluses of staff, food and comfortable beds

We stayed here one night on the way back down from Scotland. The evening meal was ok, although elements of my wife’s starter weren’t included as on the menu. We drew this to the attention of the Manager who apologies and said they they would remind the chef to include all elements of the dish in the in future, but nothing else was offered. My Steak pie was delicious but my wife’s sea bass wasn’t to her liking either. The room was clean, but the TV in the room wasn’t tuned in ind I could only find one channel to watch (BBC1). Even ITV 1 wasn’t available. I asked the staff (who were nice and friendly) how to tune the TV or if they had a guide but they said they didn’t. The room was nice and warm and the bed comfy. In the morning the shower was blocked so the tray was constantly filled with water although it fortunately didn’t overflow. Overall an average stay but wouldn’t return.

You have to walk on the road to get to reception from the car park as there was a sign saying staff only from the covered area to the bar . check in is at the bar ,no dedicated reception . The room we were allocated was not the room booked on the web site but it was only one night so not worth bothering about ,however the bathroom door needs attention as my wife was unable to close it until I told her how to do it ( I am a joiner and the hinges need the screws tightened up but this Will be difficult as the door does not open fully ),the television is a pain as it’s freesat and it was difficult to get a station that was suitable .

Room smelt of dogs, upon enquiring i was informed previous occupant had dog. External of property very run down and in need of refurbishment ie windows rotten, walls cracked, gutters blocked, in need of repaint etc. Internal was not maintained windows of course as external (rotten) several would not open others would not close, imitation roof beams in breakfast room where just pine screwed to ceiling obviously because the screw holes hadnt been filled also gap between ceiling and beams, what a botch job (why bother with the beams), the uncarpeted stair had been painted as had the dust and dirt ,rough and scruffy like a 1950s Glasgow tenement block,all areas in need of proper professional decoration and a good clean. Bedroom in addition to smell had cracked sink dirty rusty waste (plughole) Overall run down property i would be ashamed to own, pity as the food was ok and staff friendly

Great choice for an Autumn stay. Warm, comfortable,friendly and hospitable. Great bar, resteraunt choices and breakfast options. No need to go out when you can relax here. Close to A1, yet country quiet on the riverside.

Quiet, peaceful location relaxing. Pub restaurant busy obviously a popular place to eat and with good reason the food was really good, which was the case with breakfast!. Enjoyed our 2 night stay, the staff really made us think about staying again and wish we didn't have to travel so far enabling us to do this more. Great area, hope to get back.

The property is an 18th century coach house so don’t expect brand new anything, that being said the place is full of character, but the most important part of this inn are the excellent staff, mostly Maureen (Mo) and Gracie. They were superbly professional yet warm and welcoming and made our 2 day stay a pleasure. The food was excellent (well done Becca) with a great choice. The room was spotless and clean as was the bathroom, would definitely go back and probably will. Well done all.
