Willowhaven is a beautifully crafted redwood home on a generous lot dotted with fruit trees. An expansive wraparound deck encapsulates seven glorious redwood trees and bends around even more. With a mixture of shade and bright light, it’s the perfect setting for a romantic getaway or to simply recharge your batteries. In fair weather, BBQ, dine outside, slumber in the hammock, or stargaze. When it rains, luxuriate in the hot tub or listen to the storm from the cozy interior. High ceilings and abundant windows make all type of weather lovely at Willowhaven. A redwood “cathedral” surrounds the hot tub and up-lights show off the beauty of our trees. Inside, the master bedroom features a King-size bed with adjusting frame. Lift or lower the back or foot sections of the bed separately and settle in to watch TV or snuggle while the wood burning stove warms the room. Both full bathrooms are substantial – making this a great home to visit as a couple, with friends, or a small family. The fully stocked kitchen and many places to dine, inside and out, ensure you have room to prepare gourmet meals with local produce and wines. You’re minutes from the coast, Armstrong Woods State Park, Northwood Golf Course, and the Russian River. Quaint shops, casual and fine dining, and world (and locally) famous wineries are within a short drive. Know Before You Book: Maximum Occupancy and Quiet Hours: The maximum occupancy at Willowhaven is 4 people not including kids under 3 years old. Quiet hours are from 10:00 pm until 7:00 am. Outdoor amplified sound is prohibited at all times. Parking: There is parking for a maximum of 2 vehicles. RVs, trailers and campers are prohibited, per the Sonoma County Vacation Rental Ordinance. Bed Sizes: Master bedroom: King adjustable frame bed; Living room sleeper sofa: Queen bed. Security Cameras: For the safety of guests and the home, there are exterior security cameras for the front entry area only. Heat Source: Central Heating. Master suite (upstairs): wood burning stove. (Firewood and kindling not provided, but you may use any left by prior guests.) Downstairs: Gas stove. Location: Willowhaven is in a cozy residential neighborhood. It is a mix of permanent residents and vacation rentals, families, working folks, and visitors. To honor this balance, we ask guests to park in the driveway and along the front fence and respect the quiet hours in addition to general family-friendly, residential neighborhood expectations. Thank you for helping to continue the tradition of a mutually beneficial relationship between vacation rentals and local community! Stairs: There are 2 steps from the driveway to the deck and one story of stairs inside the house from the main level to the bedroom upstairs. The basement and backyard are accessible via 1 flight of exterior stairs front the deck. Pet Friendly: Willowhaven welcomes up to 2 well-behaved dogs. Fencing: The back yard is fenced, but we always recommend checking the fence line before letting your dog off-leash. The deck and parking area are not fenced. Common Amenities not included: This home does not have air conditioning, but the redwood trees usually keep the house cool in the summer! Bathtub: Take a soak in the bathtub! The jets are currently out of service, but the tub is still very relaxing. Proximity to wineries: There are tasting rooms in downtown Guerneville (5.2 mi) and a wine bar in Duncan’s Mills (4.9 mi), and oodles more tasting rooms at vineyards within 10 to 15 miles. We recommend visiting Westside Road to start. Nearest River Beach: The Monte Rio Public Beach has seasonal boat rentals and concessions (1 mi) and a neighborhood beach within walking distance. Nearest Ocean Beach: The coastal beaches in Jenner are approx. 10 miles from Willowhaven. Downtown Monte Rio (shops and small markets): Approx. 1 mi from the house. The interior is a little dated, and the bedroom carpet is stained, but the house is clean. The bed was extremely comfy. There is a pull-through gravel driveway. Self-check-in was a breeze. Unfortunately, I had an interruption in plans and was only at the property for about 24 hours. I arrived late afternoon, showered, slept, left for the day, came back, packed, and left, therefore I have nothing more helpful to add to this review. The location was perfect in almost every way- walking distance to a nice beach on the river and walking distance (for us) to everything else in Monte Rio. I walked our dog several miles everyday through the neighborhood and out along the river and Dutch creek. This is a great house if you are traveling with a dog. The fenced yard is huge. The deck is not gated, but our dog is not a wanderer so that wasn’t an issue for us. The only drawbacks were looking out at the neighboring houses which are in need of some TLC and the neighbors across the street who had ongoing arguments. We would consider staying here again when the average temperatures are below 80 because the lack of air conditioning and screen doors made for an uncomfortable first nights sleep. However, we went and bought a fan to cook and sleep comfortably the remainder of our 5 day stay. This properly has so much potential and would greatly benefit from installing a mini split system, some hardscape/landscaping in the backyard, a gate to enclose the front entry, and some updating, but the style is typical for the area and it was clean and quiet during our stay with a generous yard for the dogs to play. The listing said to bring charcoal for the grill, but it wasn’t necessary because there was a propane grill and I also received an email the day of our arrival that charcoal was not allowed. Upstairs gets very hot. The bed is very old and not comfortable. There was loud construction outside and there wasn’t a ton of privacy from the neighbors. The deck is huge under the big redwoods and has so many sitting areas. The downstairs area is quaint and cozy. The upstairs bedroom is very large and beautiful with high ceilings. The upstairs bedroom was very spacious. We had our 2 small dogs with us and they had a hard time negotiating the stairs, but that is no fault of the property. Having a large bathroom downstairs as well as upstairs was very helpful. The large outside deck was covered with many sets of tables and chairs so it was hard to maneuver around them and they all needed a good cleaning after the winter. It was chilly in the morning and we were busy most of the day so we had no reason to use the outside though my husband did use the hot tub one night and enjoyed it. ##### Richard S.
