"A very nice Hotel with only 7 rooms but a really outstanding service and 'family' concept where the entire staff is striving to make your stay perfect and exceptional. A good place to relax and unwind including a super delicious restaurant. Only thing you have to be aware of, that there is absoultely NO tourism infrastructure around this place! No restaurants, no shops, no nothing! Nearest town is 40 mins. by local transport. But if you're looking for a calm and tranquil place to forget about...

"This hotel has basic amenities and it's proximity to the beach is wonderful. The service is exceptional and the people who work there are so wonderful. This is not a luxurious hotel by any means, but would I stay here again, yes I would. Basic comforts were provided, including a mosquito net over the bed and a mosquito repellant plug in (much needed for the third friend who didn't have a mosquito net over her single bed). We were upgraded to an ocean view room on a top floor (lots of stairs), so...

9.0 out of 10, Wonderful, (40 reviews)
"The property is lovely - nice rooms, great shower - but the food is just okay. We had a great stay and the staff was very friendly. It is fairly easy to get into Tangalle itself from this property, though you will likely need to organize transportation because walking down the main road to get into town is a bit harrowing (a tuk tuk will be $1-2 USD each way). The downside to this property is that, while you can see the ocean from the "ocean view" rooms, the ocean is a bit far away, and there...

Ziba Luxury Villa

Ziba Luxury Villa

10/10 Excellent
"We stayed here for 3 nights and it was incredible. The room was spacious and we got a room overlooking the sea, which was fantastic. It was clean and cozy, and very quiet and peaceful at night. Rosemary, our front desk host was also lovely. She always had a little chat with us during breakfast each morning. The villa is right in the middle of Tangalle, and we made a few day trips from there, each around an hour or more away. Even so, it felt really nice coming back to Ziba after a day out because it was so peaceful. Highly recommend this villa!"

Frequently asked questions

What is the best area to stay in Medaketiya?
The best area to stay in Medaketiya is along the main beach road, which runs parallel to the coastline.

This area is the heart of Medaketiya, offering direct access to the beach and a range of accommodation options. You'll find many guesthouses and smaller hotels lining this road, with most offering sea views or being just a short stroll from the sand. The road itself is relatively quiet, with local eateries and small shops interspersed among the properties.

Couples often find this area ideal for a relaxing beach holiday. You can enjoy long walks along the beach, watch the fishing boats come in, and dine at various beachfront restaurants. The calm waters here are superb for swimming and unwinding.

For solo travellers looking for a peaceful retreat, the southern end of the main beach road offers a more secluded feel.
When is the best time to go to Medaketiya?
The best time to go to Medaketiya is during the dry season, which runs from December to March.

During these months, you'll experience consistently sunny days and lower humidity, making it ideal for enjoying the beaches and exploring the local area. The sea is typically calm and clear, superb for swimming and water activities. This period is also popular for wildlife spotting, as animals are more active and visible.

For those looking to avoid the busiest crowds while still enjoying good weather, the shoulder months of April and November can also be a good option. While there might be a few more showers, the temperatures remain pleasant, and you can often find better deals on accommodations.
Can I cancel my hotel reservation on Expedia?
You can cancel your hotel reservation on Expedia, though it depends on the cancellation policy of your booking. Most bookings are refundable if canceled within 24-48 hours of the scheduled arrival. Be sure to check your booking confirmation for the exact cancellation policy. If free cancellation is available, you can cancel directly through your Expedia account by logging in, going to "My Trips", and selecting your reservation. To find flexible deals, filter your search by "Fully refundable property" for hotels in Medaketiya.
How much is the nightly rate at a Medaketiya hotel?
Prices for hotels in Medaketiya often vary, but you can find a great deal from CA $12 on Expedia. All sorts of factors affect price, such as the time of year or the days of the week you choose for your stay. Find the best deals by being flexible with your dates, and sort search results by "Price: low to high" for the cheapest rate.
