Amazing breakfast and very polite staff ##### Carol Séjour de 1 nuit en novembre 2025 ### 2/10 – Terrible #### Laura 2 nov. 2025 Points forts : Propreté Points faibles : Service et personnel, commodités Main issues: • Booked King Deluxe Room, given cheaper Traditional Room • Strong smell of mould from bathroom • Loud squealing plumbing at 11:30 pm, 1:30 am & 4:30 am – no sleep • Hotel and Hotels.com blamed each other despite photo evidence • Correct room empty – Hotels.com offered to pay difference, hotel refused • No greeting on arrival until an employee confirmed we where in the correct place - only person there with any service skills– family busy hosting private party We booked the King Deluxe Room (upstairs with bath) to rest after surgery but were placed in the wrong room and met with dismissive, conflicting responses. I showed photo proof of our booking, yet both parties blamed each other. Even when Hotels.com offered to pay the difference, the hotel refused. The mouldy bathroom and constant plumbing noise with squealing plumbing made it impossible to rest. We left without breakfast and were later refunded by Hotels.com due to The Family Tree’s lack of care and dismissive attitude. Everything was spot on. Room was spacious, clean, comfy. Excellent breakfast. Staff were very helpful and polite. Great carpark too. We used The Family Tree hotel/b&b as a stop over on the way to Bath. The place was superb… very clean, good facilities in the room, with a hearty and delicious breakfast. The off street parking in also very convenient. Additionally the staff were helpful, friendly and polite. Thx for a lovely stay ##### Bahram Séjour de 1 nuit en août 2025 ### 6/10 – Acceptable #### Arthur 30 sept. 2025 Points forts : Service et personnel, état et installations de l’hébergement You can see how much effort has gone into this B&B overall. Unfortunately for us it was let down by the heating not working and no one around to assist (the Family Tree downstairs closed at 5pm) No adjustment of the WiFi thermostats on the radiators worked. I believe that the one in the room was broken as there was no reaction (lights etc) at all. The 2 in the bathroom did show adjustment but still no heat in them. There was no heat in any of the pipes so I am convinced that the heating was turned off at source. We spent the evening wrapped in bed clothes. The next morning you could feel heat in the pipes, but still the radiators didn't work. Every time the toilet was flushed (inc the room next door) there was a LOUD howling sound for a min or so! It also didn't impress that there were stains on the quilt which doesn't give confidence that you are getting into a clean bed. That really is a no no. On the plus side the breakfast was wonderful. I liked the idea of each table having it's own breakfast box for the cereals, fruit and pastries - much better than the usual 'buffet' style. The cooked part of the breakfast was delicious too. I've stayed at many B&Bs in old buildings but none with the particular problems that we had. Unfortunately I wouldn't recommend the Family Tree. ##### Arthur Séjour de 1 nuit en septembre 2025 ### 6/10 – Acceptable #### Stephen Voyage de couple 29 sept. 2025 Points faibles : Propreté The people were generally friendly and helpful. The freshly cooked breakfast was very good. No room service was provided. The room has no wardrobe and limited storage space. The shower is in a high-sided bath tub so really difficult to access, the myriad of tap controls are ridiculously complicated and the side panel is too small so the bathroom floor gets soaked. But a lovely stay. The Breakfast was 10 out of 10, with a choice of serials, fresh fruit and a choice of pastries followed by a full cooked English Breakfast or a choice of a light Breakfast.
