Take a swim down at the Bay, fish around the local waters, dive on the final resting place of the Rainbow Warrior, indulge in a game of golf at Kauri Cliffs, pick up a bottle of wine and some food at the local Top Shop and Blue Bar or take a leisurely drive along the coastline passing Te Ngaere, Wainui, and Tauranga Bay to Whangaroa Harbour. From here you can explore the Far North by travelling to Ninety Mile beach and Cape Reinga passing many iconic settlements on the way or heading south to the historic Bay of Islands areas of Kerikeri, Paihia, Waitangi and Russell. Our 3 bedroom home is bright and modern with open plan living and stainless steel kitchen appliances. The views greet you in the morning from the front bedrooms, which have French doors that open onto a full length deck. The living areas also open onto the deck and the expansive views of the Cavalli Islands. All the linen will be supplied and help generate a feeling of comfort and warmth at a realistic price. We invite families, couples and groups of friends to come and sample the area. Special conditions: Smoking allowed outside only. All garbage and recycling items to be removed from the property at departure. (Directions to the local refuse transfer station is available). The accommodation and the weather were perfect. We dived on the Rainbow Warrior and paid our respects at the memorial, swam in the crystal clear water, had far too many coffees at the campground cafe and way too many pink gins. Note that for this property we needed to bring things like our own dishwashing liquid, laundry detergent, salt, pepper, spray and wipe, cleaning cloths, paper towels, bin liners etc. There is no wifi (which could really be mentioned on the listing) - but we had 2-4 bars of 3G around the house depending on the provider so could hotspot (kinda). Other than bringing a laptop with movies downloaded, hotspotting is the only way to watch movies/TV shows as no DVD player. Otherwise there is just standard TV channels. The corner store at the top of the hill has 10/10 homemade pies and the bar/cafe is great. There is a better store selection at the holiday park shop at Matauri Bay (<5 mins drive) which also has fuel (91 and 95) and takeaways. The beach is stunning and we recommend boating or kayaking around this area. House did have moldy windows, but was otherwise clean. Dropping rubbish would've been annoying if we didn't go to Kerikeri quite a bit during our stay. Apparently it gets quite cloudy up on the hill where the house is but we still got some great days.
