"I was met by the owner Passi who was waiting for me. I had booked into one of the apartments but wes told that I was staying in one of the cottages by the lake. Passi took me to the cottage which has its own wood burning sauna and stunning views looking out to Lake Orivesi. It was really peaceful and it has its own private beach and a rowing boat plus a swing which I must admit I spent quite a bit of time on there. The centre of Kitee is about 20 minutes away in a car so if like me you do not...

Frequently asked questions

When is the best time to go to Liperi?
The best time to go to Liperi largely depends on your preferred activities, with summer (June to August) offering warmer weather for outdoor pursuits and winter (December to March) providing opportunities for snow-based adventures.

For those who enjoy long daylight hours and pleasant temperatures, summer is ideal. The region experiences the midnight sun phenomenon, meaning it stays light late into the evening, superb for exploring the numerous lakes, forests, and hiking trails. You'll find many opportunities for swimming, fishing, and boating on Lake Saimaa, which borders Liperi. Average daily temperatures in July typically range from 15°C to 25°C.

Winter transforms Liperi into a snowy landscape, appealing to travellers keen on winter sports and experiencing the quiet beauty of a Finnish winter. From December to March, you can enjoy cross-country skiing on prepared trails, ice skating on frozen lakes, or even try ice fishing. The short daylight hours are often compensated by the opportunity to see the Northern Lights on clear nights.
Can I cancel my hotel reservation on Expedia?
You can cancel your hotel reservation on Expedia, though it depends on the cancellation policy of your booking. Most bookings are refundable if canceled within 24-48 hours of the scheduled arrival.
