Lazy Oaks Resort is a special place — rustic, beautiful, and full of character — but it’s not for everyone. Yes, it’s beautiful here. Yes, it’s peaceful. But let’s be honest — when you stay this close to the lake and woods, you're signing up for a front-row seat to the wild side of the White Mountains. That includes bugs (despite our constant spraying), bats (they eat the bugs, so technically they’re staff), mice (adorable freeloaders), geese (loud and entitled), badgers (surprisingly bold), and yes... occasionally, bears (they were here first). Now, don’t panic — actual wildlife encounters are rare. Most critters keep to themselves, especially if you don’t leave snacks out like it’s a buffet for the forest. But still — if the idea of a spider ruins your weekend, this might not be your dream getaway. Pet owners, listen up: we love animals — yours, ours, and the wild ones that roam the area. But please keep your furry friends leashed and in your sight at all times. This is real nature, not a fenced-in dog park. Luckily for us, we had two fans to help us get through the night. It was difficult to get to sleep. We also did not have Wifi the entire stay we were there. We informed the office and they indicated that they had cable problems, but other cabins had their wifi working.
