This central part of La Riera is characterised by its traditional Asturian architecture, with stone houses and narrow, winding streets. The area around the church is the focal point, where you'll find the local shops, a few restaurants, and the village's general store. It's a compact and walkable area, making it easy to explore on foot.

For couples seeking a peaceful rural escape, staying in the village centre offers a delightful experience. You'll be close to the local eateries for evening meals and can enjoy strolls along the river, which runs through the village. It provides a genuine taste of Asturian village life, with easy access to walking trails into the surrounding countryside.

Families will also find the village centre a good base. The quiet streets mean children can explore with a degree of freedom, and the proximity to the river and local green spaces provides opportunities for outdoor play.

The best time to visit La Riera, Asturias, is during the summer months, from June to September, when the weather is at its most pleasant.

During this period, you can expect warm temperatures and plenty of sunshine, making it ideal for enjoying the local beaches and outdoor activities. The sea temperatures are also at their warmest, superb for swimming and watersports. This is a great time for families to visit La Riera, as the good weather allows for relaxed days on the sand at nearby beaches like Playa de La Griega, known for its dinosaur footprints, or exploring the charming coastal paths.

For couples looking for a romantic getaway, late spring (May) or early autumn (October) can also be wonderful. The crowds are typically smaller, and the weather remains mild enough for comfortable walks along the coast or through the countryside.
