The best area to stay in La Pedrera is generally in the central part of the town, close to the main square and the river port. This central area offers the most convenience for travellers. It's where you'll find the limited accommodation options, local eateries, and the main points of interest. The town is small, so everything is within easy walking distance from this central hub.For all travellers, including couples and solo adventurers, staying centrally is the most practical choice. It provides immediate access to the river for excursions and local facilities.

The best time to go to La Pedrera is during the dry season, which runs from July to October.During these months, you'll experience lower water levels on the Caquetá River. This makes it easier to navigate the river by boat and access the various caños (small channels) and lakes, allowing for better wildlife spotting and fishing opportunities. The weather is generally sunnier and less humid, which is more comfortable for jungle treks and exploring the surrounding area. For adventurers and those keen on extensive exploration, this period is ideal as the reduced rainfall means trails are less muddy, and visibility for birdwatching and observing other fauna is often improved.
