"This is a beautiful old hotel property. It has great bones and the rooms have been updated and modernized nicely. That said, there are some very quirky aspects to the property. Firstly, there is no reception - just an automated machine that provides a key card. This means that there is no one to ask about parking, amenities etc. The second thing is that no one speaks English at all. The cleaning staff was very sweet but could not speak a word. We had to use Google Translate for all...

Top Korbussen Hotel Reviews

Hotel Schloss Schweinsburg

Hotel Schloss Schweinsburg

10/10 Excellent
"Beautiful hotel set in nice grounds. The main building used to be a palace. We were allocated a room in the adjoining building. When we first arrived, we were told that they were full, despite us having booked in advance. But this was soon sorted out. Our room was clean and tidy and spacious. It had a slanted ceiling right above the bed, so we had to be careful getting in and out. The wifi was not very strong in the room but luckily we did not really need it for anything special. The restaurant offered a buffet or the a la carte menu. The buffet looked a bit lacking so we chose the menu and the food was excellent. We can highly recommend the pork schnitzel and the salmon. Parking free and on site. All in all, a lovely place to stay."

Frequently asked questions

What is the best area to stay in Korbussen?
The best area to stay in Korbussen depends on your priorities, but the historic town centre offers the most direct access to local life and amenities.

The heart of Korbussen is relatively compact, centred around the Marktplatz (Market Square). Here, you'll find the Rathaus (Town Hall) and the historic St. Peter und Paul's Church. The main streets, like Hauptstraße and Kirchgasse, branch off from the square and are lined with traditional Thuringian houses, a few local shops, and cafes. It's a very walkable area, allowing you to easily explore on foot.

For couples looking for a relaxed and authentic experience, staying in or very near the town centre is ideal. You'll be able to enjoy leisurely strolls, discover independent eateries, and appreciate the local architecture. It's a nice base for experiencing the town's quiet charm.

If you're a solo traveller seeking a convenient base for exploring the wider Thuringia region, accommodation within walking distance of the Korbussen train station, located just a short distance from the Marktplatz, would be a practical choice.
When is the best time to go to Korbussen?
The best time to visit Korbussen is during the spring (April to June) and autumn (September to October) months.

During these periods, the weather is pleasantly mild, making it ideal for exploring the natural beauty of the Thuringian Forest and the surrounding countryside. You'll experience comfortable temperatures superb for outdoor activities like hiking and cycling, with less chance of extreme heat or cold.

Couples looking for a relaxing getaway will appreciate the serene atmosphere of Korbussen during these shoulder seasons. The spring brings blossoming landscapes, while autumn offers stunning foliage, providing a picturesque backdrop for strolls and enjoying the local cuisine without the larger crowds of peak summer.

For solo travellers interested in outdoor pursuits, these months offer excellent conditions for exploring the numerous walking and cycling trails that crisscross the region.
