« Booked this hotel through Expedia prior to my trip, when I landed in Colombo I received a text message from a French (+33) number saying that my booking at The Coconut would be cancelled, and that the prices I had booked were no longer valid! My only choices were to cancel the booking or pay the "new prices" which were 3x higher! I ended up saying I didn't want the booking and found other accommodations. I actually went to the hotel during my trip where the front desk person was frustrated...

« The hotel had been abandoned. We managed to check-in but there have been no staff onsite since. A local has told us that the Indian company that owns the hotel has not paid the local staff wages and they have been forced to leave. The hotel is filthy, there is literally no staff anywhere to be seen. »

« Das Zimmer war in Ordnung, aber nichts Besonderes, und leider hatten wir ziemlich viele Ameisen. Hier sollte definitiv nochmal nachgebessert werden. Ein paar Dinge, die ich als Verbesserungsvorschläge hätte: Ein Mülleimer im Bad, eine Badematte, eine Klobürste, eine Seifenschale sowie Duschgel und Shampoo wären super. Ein Moskitonetz über dem Bett wäre auch eine tolle Ergänzung! Am ersten Morgen sind wir ziemlich spät aufgestanden, weil wir uns vom Schock eines Unfalls erholen mussten – unser...

« One or maybe the best hotel with pool at the beach in Arumgambay. The rooms are rather small and basic but OK compared to other places. A fridge would be a nice addition though. The bathroom is also small and basic, and we had a lot of ants the first days (but that is kinda everywhere). The WIFI was "so-so" but that was kinda everywhere in Sri Lanka (better off buying a SIM-card). The service and staff was excellent and everyone was helpfull and service-minded. Big thanks to the older yoga...
