"Nice pool , good breakfast, quiet location. Helpful managers, excellent restaurant on site Our room #128: shower head clogged-had to use hand held. Slow drain and small shower cubicle wirh no curtain: flooding on floor everytime we showered . Dont stay in room 128. Our AC kept our room cool, however everyday we would leave and the housekeeper would open the patio doors and leave them unlocked. We reported this to management. Air conditioner from above floor dripped onto our patio right next to...

"The hotel location is fantastic, very peaceful, with well kept and beautiful grounds. Food is excellent, staff and service equally so. Whilst the rooms are basic ours was very clean and the swim up pool, whilst shared with two other rooms, felt private. We had a wonderful ten days all inclusive, which was excellent value. We'd 100% return! Not a place to go if you're bothered about watching television 🙂"

Top Kissoi Hotel Reviews

Hotel Kissandros

8/10 Good

"The lady in charge couldn’t do enough for us and she put on a decent enough breakfast each morning. Her qualities stemmed from her good nature and willingness to assist us in every way. Her lack of English language skills meant she lacked the werewithall to help on other issues such as a lack of certain bathroom equipment such as a plug for the sink. Such small inconveniences didn’t bother us but it may do others. The lady’s son attended regularly and he could speak English more than adequately. The room was always clean and everyone down at breakfast seemed to be perfectly happy with the place."

Private paradise with heated pool Peace, comfort. Goddess and large garden

10/10 Excellent

"If you are wanting a 5 star hotel this is not the place for you however if you are wanting a very Cretian villa with a beautiful pool and garden and a host who goes the extra mile then this is the place. Vagelis (the owner) simply added to the holiday with his fresh fruits, honey and oil from his own olives. He was available for any help needed. Great place to stay and great people. We would gladly visit again."

Paralos The Maxine - Adults Only

8/10 Good

"Great sea views and easy 5 minute walk to Agia Galini beach. Room 212 was spacious, bed was comfortable, pool was beautiful and had ample sun-beds and shade, and the AC worked great. Improvements that would enhance the stay include figuring out and fixing the sewage smell in the room and fixing the moldy trim outside shower. Lacked basic amenities like hair conditioner, had a bottle of hand lotion in the shower instead of hair conditioner- which was really weird. When you leave the room, all electricity turns off which means the mini refrigerator and freezer turn off- you come back to melted ice and warm beer. There is no restaurant on site. They do have a snack bar at the pool open until 5 pm. They have buffet breakfast with a lot of hot and cold choices each morning. If you want real orange juice, cappuccino, or espresso there is an additional charge (most hotels include these options via self serve machines). In the evening they offer a buffet dinner. Bar is open til late but does not serve food or snacks. We really missed having a restaurant to order from. Good news is plenty of great beach bars and tavernas were short walk away along the beach."

Frequently asked questions

What is the best area to stay in Kissoi?

The best area to stay in Kissoi is the Old Town, particularly around the Venetian Harbour, for a quintessential Cretan experience.

The Old Town is a labyrinth of narrow, pedestrianised streets, showcasing a blend of Venetian and Ottoman architecture. You'll find charming boutique hotels located amongst local shops selling ceramics and textiles, as well as traditional tavernas. The Venetian Harbour, with its iconic lighthouse and historic fort, is the focal point, offering picturesque views and waterside dining.

For couples, the Old Town is an ideal romantic escape. Its winding streets and hidden courtyards create an intimate setting, superb for leisurely strolls and discovering quaint cafes. Evenings are particularly pleasant here, with the soft glow of lights reflecting on the harbour and the gentle buzz of conversation from the restaurants.

Families might prefer the areas just outside the immediate Old Town, such as the district around Koum Kapi beach. This area offers a bit more space, with hotels often featuring pools and easier access to the sandy beach, which is popular for swimming.

When is the best time to go to Kissoi?

The best time to visit Kissoi, Crete, for pleasant weather and fewer crowds is during the shoulder seasons of late April to early June and September to October.

During these months, the weather is warm and sunny, with average temperatures ranging from 20°C to 27°C, making it ideal for exploring the island's historical sites, hiking, and enjoying the beaches without the intense heat and larger crowds of mid-summer. You'll find that most attractions, restaurants, and shops are fully open, but you'll have an easier time securing reservations and experiencing a more relaxed pace.

Couples looking for a romantic getaway will appreciate the quieter beaches and charming village evenings that these seasons offer. The milder temperatures are great for leisurely strolls through olive groves or along the coast, and you can enjoy al fresco dining as the sun sets without feeling rushed.

Families travelling with younger children might also find these periods more comfortable. The sea temperatures are still pleasant enough for swimming, and the less crowded environment means a more relaxed experience at popular spots.
