Minoa Pediada
7.8 out of 10, Good, (10 reviews)
"Came in the off season, and it was a complete bait and switch. Actual hotel was closed (including pool and restaurant (so no breakfast)). Placed us next door in tiny apartments. Manager gave us the key and left the property. First room had a broken toilet seat so moved us to another one. Staff spoke no English and didn’t understand that we need password for WiFi. Blanket on bed was wet. We were supposed to stay 2 nights but left the next morning."

Frequently asked questions

What is the best area to stay in Kastri?
The best area to stay in Kastri is around the main beach and harbour area, particularly along the stretch of coast known as Ammoudara.

Ammoudara is the heart of Kastri, offering direct access to the main sandy beach, which is well-organised with sun loungers and umbrellas. The promenade along the beachfront is lined with tavernas, cafes, and shops, creating a pleasant environment for an evening stroll. The harbour, at the eastern end of Ammoudara, is where you'll find fishing boats and excursions to nearby islands.

For couples looking for a relaxing beach holiday with convenient access to dining and local life, Ammoudara is an excellent choice. You can easily spend your days by the sea and enjoy a variety of dining options within a short walk of your accommodation.

Families will also find Ammoudara highly suitable due to its gentle, sandy beach and the availability of amenities close by.
When is the best time to go to Kastri?
The best time to go to Kastri is during the shoulder seasons, specifically from May to early June or from September to October.

These months offer pleasant weather with warm temperatures, ideal for enjoying the beaches and outdoor activities without the peak summer crowds. You'll find the sea is warm enough for swimming, and the natural scenery is at its most beautiful, with blooming wildflowers in spring and the olive groves ripening in autumn. This period also often provides better value on accommodation and flights compared to the busiest months.

For those looking for a very quiet holiday focused on relaxation and hiking, April is also a lovely option. The temperatures are cooler, great for exploring the walking trails, and the island is particularly green and fresh. While the sea might be a bit chilly for swimming, the fewer visitors make for a very peaceful experience.

Families travelling with school-aged children might find July and August more convenient due to school holidays. While these months are the hottest and busiest, Kastri still offers plenty of space, and the sea is at its warmest.
