The best area to stay in Itala is the historic centre (centro storico), which offers a concentrated experience of the town's heritage and local life. The historic centre is a charming labyrinth of narrow, winding streets and ancient buildings, many adorned with potted plants and traditional Sicilian balconies. It's easily walkable, with the main piazza, Piazza della Libertà, serving as a central meeting point. Here, you'll find the Chiesa Madre, the town's main church, and several local shops and eateries.Couples looking for a romantic escape will find the historic centre particularly appealing. The quiet evenings, often filled with the distant sound of church bells, create a peaceful backdrop for strolls. There are opportunities to enjoy authentic Sicilian cuisine at family-run trattorias and explore local artisan shops. For those seeking a more secluded and tranquil experience, the areas slightly uphill from the historic centre, such as Contrada Piano, offer stunning panoramic views of the Ionian Sea and the surrounding countryside.

The best time to go to Itala, Sicily, is during the shoulder seasons of spring (April to June) and autumn (September to October). These months offer pleasant weather, with warm but not excessively hot temperatures, making it ideal for exploring the region's historical sites and natural beauty. You'll find fewer crowds compared to the peak summer months, allowing for a more relaxed and authentic experience. The sea is also warm enough for swimming during these periods. For those looking to enjoy the beach and water activities, late June and early September are particularly good.
