The best area to stay in Isola is the historic centre, particularly around the Piazza della Chiesa and Via Roma. This charming area is the heart of Isola, characterised by its narrow, cobbled streets and traditional Ligurian architecture. It's very walkable, with local shops, trattorias, and cafes tucked away in its lanes. The Piazza della Chiesa, dominated by the Parish Church of San Michele Arcangelo, is a central meeting point.Couples looking for a romantic escape will find the historic centre ideal. The intimate setting, with its quiet evenings and pleasant dining options, provides a relaxing backdrop for a holiday. You're also well-placed for leisurely strolls to viewpoints offering vistas of the surrounding valleys. For travellers prioritising easy access to the region's hiking trails and scenic drives, staying slightly outside the immediate historic centre but still within walking distance can be a good option.

The best time to go to Isola for pleasant weather and fewer crowds is during the shoulder seasons of May, early June, or September.During these months, the weather is typically warm and sunny, ideal for exploring the coastal towns and enjoying the beaches without the intense heat and larger crowds of July and August. You'll find most shops, restaurants, and attractions are fully open, but you'll have an easier time securing reservations and finding a spot on the beach. For those looking to experience the full buzz of summer, July and August offer the warmest temperatures and the liveliest atmosphere. This is peak season, so expect beaches and popular spots to be busy and accommodation prices to be at their highest. It's a great time for families as all activities and facilities will be in full swing, and the sea is at its warmest for swimming.Conversely, if you prefer a quieter trip and are less concerned about swimming, late autumn (October) or early spring (April) can also be lovely.
