![Blue Lake *
(Croatian: Modro jezero or Plavo jezero) is a karst lake located near Imotski in southern Croatia. Like the nearby Red Lake, it lies in a deep sinkhole possibly formed by the collapse of an enormous underground cave. The total depth from the upper rim is around 220 meters, while water depth varies with season. In spring, when the snow from surrounding mountains melts, it can reach 90 m, and in 1914 it reached 114 m, overflowing the southern rim. The lake is a popular destination for hiking and sight-seeing.

Maximum dimensions of the lake are around 800×500 m, but they significantly vary due to big changes in the water level. At the end of the summer the lake may completely disappear.

In 1907 a road was built descending to the lake. In 1942, an earthquake caused a large landfall resulting in reduction of the lake's depth.

"This hotel itself is very nice but the location is also the star. It sits on an incredible seaside walkway that has incredible beaches and views. The road down to the town and hotel was narrow and winding but well worth it! Great breakfast and beautiful pool areas. We went in October so we missed the crowds which was wonderful. "What a gem tucked off the road on this stretch of the Makarska Riviera. We are so glad we found this place. After traveling for a month a spa massage is exactly what we needed. The day was nice enough to sit by the pool and soak up some Indian summer sun. The food was delicious with a higher selection of entrees and desserts as well as wine and cocktails. Bed was extremely comfortable. Room was perfect. And the people were friendly, helpful and nice. Best stay of our trip. Will be back. "
