  • Welcome to Cozy Cottage, as seen on HGTV’s Roast My Rental! Featured in the premiere episode, “Cottage Come Back,” this charming Idyllwild retreat received an incredible transformation that brought fresh style, personality, and thoughtful touches to this cozy mountain getaway.

    Tucked among the towering pines, Cozy Cottage gives you the peaceful, private mountain setting you’re looking for while keeping you close enough to walk into town for dining, shopping, coffee, and exploring everything Idyllwild has to offer.

    Inside, the newly refreshed space blends mountain charm with a fun, updated design. The home sleeps up to six guests and features two bedrooms with king-size beds, a loft, one bathroom, and a washer and dryer, making it a comfortable choice for couples, families, or a getaway with friends.

    Step outside onto the spacious deck and settle into the slower pace of mountain life. Start your morning with coffee beneath the trees, come home and unwind after a day exploring Idyllwild, or spend your evenings enjoying the fresh mountain air and stargazing.

    Whether you’re escaping for a quiet weekend in the mountains or coming to experience the cottage you saw transformed on HGTV, Cozy Cottage is ready for its comeback, and your stay.

    Streaming services are available, but guests must log in using their accounts.
    This vacation rental is NOT equipped with air-conditioning.

    -Cancellations: Bookings canceled at least 60 days before the start of the stay will receive a full refund, with a $150.00 cancellation charge. Bookings canceled at least 30 days before the start of the stay will receive a 50% refund, plus a $150.00 cancellation charge.
    No Cancellations Allowed for November, December, and January

    - Pets: We do allow dogs, however, please note that there is a fee of $35 per dog per night. If you plan to bring more than one dog, you must obtain prior approval and additional fees may apply. When booking through selected third-party sites such as Airbnb, once your booking is confirmed, you will receive a payment request for the dog fee, which should be paid separately.

    Check-in instructions: On your arrival day, the reserving guest will receive a text with check-in instructions between 3:30 and 4:00 PM. Please stop by our office to retrieve your key from the lockbox.

    - Parking: There is free parking available for 3 vehicles.

    - Outdoor lighting: Please note that outdoor lighting must comply with Riverside County regulations and must not blink, flash, or rotate. Guests will be held liable for any "light trespass" on surrounding properties.

    - County permit number: 001346

    - Rental agreement: Please review our rental agreement for our house rules. You will receive an emailed version to sign, but if you prefer other options, please inquire.

    - Age restrictions: Due to the new County of Ordinance 927.2: We no longer accept reservations for anyone under 21 years of age.

    - Seasonal wood delivery: If available, there is a $25 fee per bundle (approximately 20 pieces). Please provide at least 5 days' notice for a Friday arrival date or at least 3 days' notice for any other day of the week. Please note that there are no refunds for this service.

    - Confirmation: Upon booking this property through Airbnb, New Spirit Vacation Homes will send you a direct email confirming your reservation. Attached to this confirmation will be a contract you need to review, sign, and send back within 24 hours.

    - Incidentals: We reserve the right to request payment for any incidentals. This includes but is not limited to firewood, pet fees, special occasion requests, personal grocery drop-offs, pay-per-view movies or sporting events, and damaged property.

    Guests booking this home under the age of 25 years of age will provide an additional insurance for $70.00 non-refundable on the day of arrival.

Everything about the cabin was excellent. But AFTER I paid, to complete the process, I was asked to sign an extensive rental agreement, provide THREE photos of my driver's liscence AND a selfie. If that sort of thing doesn't bother you then this is a great place to stay.

Loved the Mountain View and the outside sitting areas. Also like being just a short drive from town yet felt like we were in the woods with privacy. The kitchen had everything we needed. Did not see a hot tub? Was in the listing but we did not see one - but it wasn’t important to us.

This was the worst experience I’ve ever had renting a place. First, the day before your trip starts they make you sign an extensive rental agreement essentially saying that they won’t refund you no matter what. But it’s the day before your trip so it’s not like I had time to rebook anywhere else. Then, they make you pick up the key at a separate office and then they do not provide gps directions to the house - they text you incredibly confusing directions that you’re supposed to read while driving I guess? And good luck reading any signs if you arrive after dark. After about 20 minutes I finally find the house and when I got inside it was 85 degrees inside at 10pm. I went to turn on the AC and realized it was not working. I called the property manager and she informed me that there is no AC in the house. At no point did the host tell me this in our back and forth messaging before the trip. There is one tiny sentence hidden in the property details which is paragraphs and paragraphs long. If it is 90-95 degrees during the day, this should be made VERY obvious as not everyone reads the fine print. So after driving 4 hours to the house, at 10pm I had no other choice but to drive all the way back home. They would not refund me and did not even express any sympathy. Essentially all they said was “it’s in the listing and you signed an agreement that we wouldn’t refund for any reason.” This ruined my entire weekend and I am out $500 because of this extremely poor and deceiving host.

It was a place to stay. It had the basics. However, the heater didn’t quite make it to the rooms so we were cold each night. No wood stove was present. No dishwasher either. The house was to different from the photos. I know there was a statement saying to bad, but with how many things were different, it should warrant updated photos. The table was different, couches were different, carpet was different. Lights were different, no wood stove, no dishwasher. Oh, and the neighbors have a horse. Who doesn’t abide by the quiet hours. So at 3am each morning, we got to listen to the horse 5 feet from the window. Oh, and the deluxe package for 199 bucks. That was a joke. Maybe 60 bucks worth of cheap wine and candy. The “assorted” nuts were honey toasted almonds. The dozen roses were real, but the pedals on the bed were as fake as the listing. Total waste of money. We won’t be staying here again.

Nice and comfortable place surrounded by huge pine trees. The decor was a throw back to the 70s, but I kind of liked that. Nicely equipped kitchen. Comfortable beds.

Second stay with my family and it was wonderful

This was my second time staying here with my family and it was perfect. The cabin was well equipped and we didn't need to bring anything besides our clothes! I was able to cook all meals in the kitchen. The location was perfect and close to town but far enough away from noise to make a peaceful experience. Will go there again!

Amazing private cabin****

This cabin had everything we needed to make our stay comfortable. Kids had a lot of fun with the ps3 and Wii that were available. Also, the cabin was very private surrounded by trees and nature.

Get away from life

Wonderful experience. The outdoor deck is amongst the pine tress and we could hear the wind in the pines. Very romantic and peaceful.

Lovely mountain retreat

Beautiful property and very clean and comfortable home. We loved the spacious second-floor great room with large windows looking out into the trees and mountains. Both bedrooms open onto the large front deck where we enjoyed morning coffee. The jacuzzi tub was wonderful after some long days and we were very pleased with the good quality cooking ware and well-stocked kitchen. Definitely hope to come back again.

little get-away

Cabin is quiet and cozy-secluded area surrounded by trees- cabin a bit run down-remote control issues, no batteries or low batteries- damp towels hanging in bathroom-damp sheets and towels in dryer- kitchen and bath very clean Check-in would have been better at 3:00 and honestly too far to walk to town where you would have to walk on the main road without a sidewalk, unsafe.

Beauty and peace

Lovely area, Mountain View’s and tall trees… cozy comfortable cottage- homey! Great restaurant- Ferros with wonderful jazz! Tuesday nights! Many restaurants closed early March- trips to desert an hour or so away- beautiful drive down the mountain! Peaceful, serene and friendly people! All in all we enjoyed it and will return- Wi-Fi good as I worked a few days. Kathy and Gary

Good Location but so so rental

Rating Details: The property manager was more than helpful. The vacation rental was very clean. I was very unhappy with the location. I was very dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: This property is close to town which is nice but I didn't see the value. For what I paid, I feel ripped off. Everything was old and run down. All of the furniture was incredibly uncomfortable. The beds especially were terrible. I left a day early just to get a good nights sleep. Sad inventory of kitchen equipment, although they had decent pots/pans and coffee/espresso maker. My stay was during Christmas so I did appreciate the christmas tree. Other visitors should note the path up to the house is all cobble, extremely uneven and not very safe. One of us ended up with a sprained ankle which seemed of no concern to the rental agency.

Very comfortable

The property was beautiful. The house was as advertised. The cookware was in good shape and there was plenty of it. The only thing I would change would be if they gave more direction on how to use the heater. The in floor heater went out at one point, mostly probably because we tried to turn it up too high, or the pilot went out. However, our host was able to help us the next day and the rest of our stay was perfect.

Secluded Cabin with all amenities

Cabin was spacious and fireplace was great. Heater worked great, especially with the cold weather outside. You do go through a patch of dirt road and it was hard to get the cars up the hilly ramp to park. Definitely recommend bringing chains roe that section or 4wd. We bought salt to spread on the ice and a shovel to clear some if the ice out. Other than that, ot was a great stay, everything worked great, grilled some meat outside.

Dark and dreary

No cell phone reception when we arrived. Office was closed but suppose to be open. Office was hard to find. Had to ask neighbor real estate building for help. Then had to use the real estate network to call. Outside cabin property is extremely awkward for seniors and toddlers. It was not described in description. Not stable. Inside dark and dreary. Took a long time to figure out lighting. Shower door on far side was useless. Uncomfortable. Difficult to get the water warm. Too many pillows.

Rating Details: The property manager was somewhat unhelpful. The vacation rental was clean. I was very happy with the location. I was somewhat dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: PROS: Location was great. Good sized lot. Heater was effcient. CONS: There was an electrical problem with the oven so the property manager had to shut it of. For our inconvienece they said they would bring us coffe and some danish in the morning..... they did not. We had to sweep the deck when we got there due to the carpet of pine needles and branches. the hot water was not very hot and ran out quick.
