Nordic ski get away

We would recommend the Old Vic to anyone. It offers all that anyone could need. The proximity to some amazing cross country skiing was our draw and it did not disappoint. All the comforts of home.

Truly lovely house and whoever decorated it has great taste with fun attention to detail throught. It was well equipped with everything we needed and more. We felt really welcome. Great host - very responsive.

Lovely updated Victorian home

In town for Thanksgiving. We could not have picked a better home - very clean, spacious, with well equipped kitchen. Room for our family of 9. Would definitely stay again.

This house is an amazing property for family to gather. Great kitchen that is very well stocked with everything you need. Comfortable rooms and bathrooms. The sauna is an excellent bonus. I didn’t want to leave!

Great house, Centrally located

We all enjoyed the beautiful home with all the sitting rooms and excellently furnished. Close to both downtown Hancock and Houghton - we walked to local restaurants and had a splendid time in the house. The extra parking lot is not really a usable option, but there was ample parking on street and in the driveway for our 5 vehicles.

Fantastic house

Beautiful large home, perfect for a family reunion. The decor honors the home’s history but includes upscale appliances and comfortable temperatures on all floors. Everything we needed was provided. We would love to stay here many times.

We loved it. You will, too. It's a beautiful house, beautifully decorated, with beautiful artwork, and it may well be the best-supplied VRBO we’ve ever rented. Dear Mary, put this firepit in the back yard where there is a perfect opening for it: Solo Stove Yukon 2.0 smokeless fire pit —with stand and cover. Thanks for having us!

Family Wedding Weekend

This property was a perfect fit for our family of 10 which included an infant. The house was beautiful, well equiped, spotless and truthfully the best VRBO experience we have had. We hope we can stay here again. It was so nice to all be in one house, yet still some private space.

Winter Get-away

Historic Old Victorian with all the comforts of home and more. Close to all of the outdoor activities (snow shoe trails, skiing, snowmobiling) that we were interested in doing, and a short drive or walk from shops and reataurants. Welcoming note and treats from the host, great communication, everything above and beyond. 2nd visit here, we'll be back!

Baby get together

Such a comfortable stay! We brought family with 18 month old and 3 year old and when they saw 3rd floor they were so delighted. We then met 1 month old grandbaby from Calumet. For us all to be together was incredible. Loved northern lights we saw from the front yard. The beautiful fall colors on the Portage. Lunch at the Michigan House. Jam from the Jampot. We did it all.

This house is amazing!

I can’t say enough good things about this house. The character was so interesting. The views from the house were beautiful. The house was stocked more then I’ve ever seen for a rental. Clean, comfortable, roomy and the location was perfect for visiting Hancock.

Super A+ Stay!

Our group of 8 celebrated our 70th birthdays together at this incredible historical home that seemed to wrap its arms around us from the moment we arrived! The amenities abound. The owner's talent for decorating was immediately noticed. Her desire to provide comfort was evident during our entire stay. This was the perfect location to tour Copper Country from. Fun was had and fond memories were made, thank you Mary!

The Old Vic does not disappoint

We had a group of friends caravan up to the Houghton Keweenaw area for the fall colors and great local offerings. I selected The Old Vic with the location, view, space & layout, and amenities for our group. All of the above expectations were met and in the property amenities exceeded. Mary, the property host, is beyond intuitive in her offerings at the property. Our plans for the stay were extensive, but we looked forward to the time we returned to The Old Vic to regroup and recharge. All the charm with so much of the original architectural finishes of the home coupled with the modern amenities and homey touches making it the best of all the offerings. We are glad we looked and booked early for the opportunity to experience this gem. Thank you, Mary, for creating the exceptional stay experience.

Just PERFECT

Mary was wonderful-answered all questions promptly and even allowed my relative to tour Olde Vic prior to our visit. Olde Vic is GORGEOUS-beautifully decorated with holiday touches, but it truly had anything and everything you could ever want or need. There were even extras like cookies & fruit & coffee! Everyone had space to do anything they needed-even check in with work. Centrally located with beautiful views, and since we were there just after a blizzard, I can say with confidence that snow was moved enough to let my plain old minivan get around. Mary even left us with stuff to sprinkle down in case of ice. Super relaxing with plenty of room to gather friends or family in an unforgettable setting, we will be coming back to Olde Vic, and thanks again Mary!

A spectacular home with attentive, thoughtful hosts

This beautifully restored Victorian home is full of charm and thoughtful details. It feels incredibly spacious and is great for large families or groups of friends, with many different spaces for relaxing. From a kitchen and dining room fit for a Thanksgiving feast, to a variety of sitting rooms, to wonderful outdoor spaces like the front porch and large back deck (with a pro quality grill), there was plenty of space for everyone to spread out. The location of the house is part of what makes it so special. We could watch the Isle Royale ferry from the front porch, and enjoyed strolling down to the Portage Canal after dinner. It's also within walking distance of Hancock's charming historic center. Our hosts Mary and Jan went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable and had everything we needed to enjoy our stay. They also provided some great suggestions for restaurants and sights to see around the Keweenaw. Our trip flew by, and we would love to come back again to explore more of this spectacular area and to enjoy this wonderful home.

Upper Michigan Treasure

Olde Vic has all the old world charm one could want situated in a roomy interior complimented by modern updates which make it a gem for a family of 10. Beautiful Home

We had such a great time at this property. It is a beautiful, clean, and large home - space for everyone. It had everything you could want in the kitchen.
