« Great sized room overlooking the market square. Hotel offers free safe parking at rear of hotel and close to all amenities, we visited the James Heriot experience and several local pubs. Thirsk is a great location to visit other local towns like Pickering , Ripon , Northallerton and Helmsley. »

« When we arrived about 5.45pm Sunday evening we could hear a lot of noise coming from the bar area . We went to our room and freshened up arriving back at the bar about 6.15pm. The bar was dominated by a group of "locals" who were worst for wear, shouting and swearing. My husband and I retreated to the terrace which was a bit cool. « This is a beautiful hotel in all aspects! The breakfast was the nicest hotel I have had in a long while and I travel alot!! Perfectly situated for the coast, we visited Scarborough, Robin Hoods Bay and whitby; and for York and Harrogate. Would definately stay here again if we find ourselves in that part of the country again!! »

« Gorgeous location. Big room with comfy bed and good bathroom. Cosy bar and we enjoyed a lovely meal. Nice walk into the tiny village for cafe and another pub. Good value. If you’re not a dog person it’s worth noting there were a lot of guests with dogs. »

Though we were not required to we pre-ordered which made the whole evening seamless. Probably just me but there were 6 different light switches in the room. Finding the right combination for bathroom, ceiling and bedside trial and error. »

« Lovely place, beautiful food and a really nice room and ambience. But what really made this place was the wonderful warm staff. The lady on arrival was really welcoming, the girl looking after us for food was very attentive and the gentleman who welcomed us at breakfast was delightful. Would highly recommend and will be back in future, thankyou so much! »

« We stayed at this property in May 2026. While the staff were extremely kind and helpful, the air conditioner in our room was not working and they refused to change our room since they were all booked and declined a refund/compensation too. When you pay £137 a night the least you expect is for the air conditioner to work especially when it’s been a hot day and you’re on the top floor of the hotel. Pretty poor for a ‘Marriott’ hotel. Avoid at all costs. »
