The room is clean but the standout is the staff - they are lovely. They leave a little parcel outside your door if you do not request room service which is a really nice hands off approach. In larger establishments you just don't get anything replenished if you don't take the room service. The car park was a secure gated area for hotel patrons only which I found to be a massive plus for York. As car parks in York, in my opinion, all seem to be hidden away and often some distance away from most of the accommodations as well as being quite expensive for overnight stays. The receptionists were cheerful, friendly and helpful, which after a two and a half hour drive was a very welcome sight. Our room, although not huge, was comfortable and more than adequate for our needs. The breakfast staff were attentive, helpful and friendly. Our breakfast at the hotel was more than enough to see us through until lunch, and then we felt we only needed a light one. There is a buffet table with cereals, jams,fruit and bread/toast. The cooked breakfast was made to order with plenty of options. Overall we had great stay and cannot recommend the Minster Hotel highly enough. This is the second time we have stayed here and the property and staff are amazing. It is easy walk into York. We stayed for a couple of nights. Ideal location to access city centre on foot. Very friendly staff. Good breakfast. Only thing preventing five stars was a tiny en suite. A true gem of a hotel in York. Easily walkable to centre. Hotel and rooms spotlessly clean. Tasty, hot breakfast with plenty choice. Comfortable rooms but a little too hot. Good parking area at rear of hotel. Staff very pleasant and could not be more helpful. Special shout out to Gemma and Stuart who were both excellent. Great location for our visit to York. So convenient for travel with the train nearby and a short walk into the historic area. Morning breakfast was average fair served by attentive, kind staff. It was a great way to start the day. Staff was consistently polite and welcoming each and every time we left and arrived (we stayed for six days). Our room was unfortunately right above the carriage entrance of this older property, so noise was an issue from late night revelers but also other guests who passed by at all hours talking and laughing loudly.
