With breakfast and dinner are provided with kaiseki style, it was prepared properly and organized. Staff are kind and friendly. The room has tatami mats and very clean with outdoor bathtubs. Although the facility is kinda run down, we still enjoy our stay. The train station is just next to the hotel and bus stop is right outside the hotel. Towels had a certain smell to them too. There are 3 private onsen rooms too, but you have to wait for a while because there is no time limit. Dinner and breakfast were included and delicious. Overall it is clean and comfortable though. It is close to the Gora station and it is so convenient to travel around. Our stay included dinner and breakfast. Food is good and the servers are excellent. I like the 3 private onsens a lot. The food for the half board was so good and the facility was beautiful. We went when it was snowing and the view from our hotel balcony was stunning. The private baths were also really nice as well as the public baths. It was a walking distance from the station so it was a breeze to get there (\~5min walk). For being my first time in Japan and on an onsen, everything was easy to understand. The staff were also very helpful. Breakfast and dinner are very good. The in room hot springs tub is great, as you don’t have to go to the public hot springs in the open. Loved having our own private onsen to relax after a day’s exploring. Enjoyed all the traditional touches that the hotel offered. Beautiful surroundings and extremely convenient for the station at Gora. Definitely better to take the train than the bus as the roads were pretty busy. The Hakone Freepass was definitely worth the money. Enjoyed the rope way, although low cloud meant we couldn’t see Mt Fuji. The Open Air Museum was excellent. The evening meals were both amazing and beautifully presented. The hotel rooms were large and comfortable. Our room had the traditional floor seating and private wooden bath in the balcony, all of which was well maintained. The hotel included dinner and breakfast as part of the stay which again was traditional. Dinner was huge including several courses which had all been translated and explained in English. Breakfast is also traditional Japanese fare including rice, fish and miso (so if you’re a coffee and toast sort of person you will be disappointed) Again this was generous portion! The hotel is super central, just a short distance from the Gora station making it easy to access upon arrival and also central for all other attractions in the area. ##### Graeme Stayed 1 night in Oct 2024 ### 4/10 Poor #### Siu Po Feb 29, 2024 Disliked: Cleanliness, property conditions & facilities This has got to be the worse maintained property I have seen in Japan so far. Other said the hotel is old. I have seen old hotel but in much better shape. We were assigned the building further away. Hallway walls shows wear and partially patched up. Inside the room you can see air eommo dust and very heavy limestone formed on the shower glass door as if they've never cleaned it. Dust also obvious in the mens changing room where you dry your hair. There were 6 spots for the hairdryer but only 3 stools. Not recommend for the price I paid. Only positive point is the location, being the closest to Gora Station. that's all ##### Siu Po Stayed 1 night in Feb 2024 ### 10/10 Excellent #### Kurt Oct 26, 2024 Liked: Cleanliness, staff & service, amenities, property conditions & facilities If you are looking to experience a Japanese ryokan experience this is a good one to choose. Book half board and then enjoy great kaiseki dinners and real Japanese breakfasts. The typical stay here is 2 nights and they offer 2 dinner choices to complement them. Stay a third night and you will have to repeat one. We repeated the shabu shabu meal but had beef one night and fish the next. This was the first time we had had kaiseki meals and we certainly could not rate them relative to other kaiseki meals we can only say they left smiles on our faces. The staff and facilities were outstanding. We can’t comment on the onsen aspect of this inn as we opted for in room an open air ofuro so we could enjoy the waters together but the only thing that would have made the soaks any better would have been about 20 degrees cooler and some snow flakes. Eat your hearts out fans of Strawberry Hot Springs in Steamboat springs. Oh. Did we mention Mt Fuji is just over the hill? Yes Fuji-san graced us with a great view but only after we endured a weather front that showered us with grapple then swept away the clouds revealing the mountain. Think positive. Everyone is encouraged to wear the samue or yukata’s provided by the ryokan and it has an egalitarian effect that is quite pleasing.
