Petit Guemene is a stunning example of a renovated cottage with authentic beams and exposed stonewalls, happily filled with full home comforts, loaded brocante charm and a stone-walled outside courtyard. Not a spare, minimalist, rental environment! This self-catering cottage is central to Guemene Sur Scorff, a town full of ancient Breton history, and located in the southern province of Morbihan, the warmest part of Brittany. Surrounded by the classified villages of the historic Pays de Roi Morvan, the ancient kingdom of the Breton kings, there is so much to explore: amazing 13th and 14th century churches, weekly village markets, restaurants and creperies, convenient banks and supermarkets on your doorstep. And, only a short 45 minute drive, gives you access to glorious beaches, oyster farms, coastal hiking pathways and artist-loved seaside villages. Petit Guemene offers the best of both worlds…positioned midst authentic ancient towns, and with easy access to the coast. Holiday activities are beyond numerous! The cottage is on a quiet side street in this ancient market town which was the seat of the noble Rohan family in the Middle Ages. It's a 5 minute walk to patisseries, boulangeries, a substantial supermarket with a great wine selection, restaurants and banks, ATM's. Market day is Thursday. Completely renovated from top to bottom, with full care for the ancient and crooked exposed wooden beams, gorgeous Chestnut wooden floors and exposed interior stone walls, the house also had a modern kitchen, a shower bathroom (no toilet - its on the floor above) a separate powder room and a generous bath-tub bathroom (with a loo) - all areas are equipped with electric radiant heating (included in your rental) There are enough beds for 6 adults with 2 separate bedrooms as well as 2 single bed alcove beds with quality mattresses, linens and duvets. There is a washing machine on the lower garden level and drying racks for use in the sunny courtyard THE MAIN FLOOR: as you enter the street-level floor, you will find a bright and sunny open plan living room, dining room and compact kitchen layout. A ‘rescued’ oak table expands to easily seat 6, the windows open above the enclosed rear garden, for your private use. Comfy sofa and chairs, FREE wifi TV and Cd player are there for you to use. There is an updated powder room with its own hand basin on this floor as well. THE KITCHEN: With exposed wooden beams, Chestnut floor and a boutique size, the kitchen is nonetheless very well equipped: 4 burner gas stove, electric oven, full size fridge and freezer, microwave, coffeemaker and lots and lots of utensils, pots ’n pans and dining service! UPPER FLOOR: The main bedroom shows off the original stone walls, has a beautifully renovated double bed and its own skylight to let in the morning sunshine. Furnished with a chest of drawers, a wardrobe, seating and bedside tables. Across the hall on this floor is a spacious bath-tub bathroom and toilet with a hand-hold shower. Also on this level is a single bed tucked into an alcove on the landing, with its own skylight. LOWER, GARDEN FLOOR: Gorgeous fireplace bedroom with 2 single beds that can be joined to make a double. French door open onto the dual patio courtyard to catch the sun or shade! A full-size shower, hand basin and washing machine are in the bathroom on this level. Tucked into an alcove across from the bathroom is another antique single sleigh bed OUTSIDE: A lovely private walled garden with 2 separate patios to chase the sun! Le logement est bien agencé, sur 3 étages. Il y a 2 vrais chambres (1 grand lit et 2 lits simples) et 2 lits simples situés dans des couloirs à des étages différents. C'est original. La place est optimisée. Il y a tout le confort, la cuisine est très bien équipée. C'est mignon, joliment décoré et on se sent très bien. Je recommande. PS: ce n'est pas adapté à des enfants en bas âge (une partie d'un des escaliers n'a pas de rampe). ##### ngoc lan huong celine h. Séjour de 7 nuits en juillet 2025 ### 10/10 – Excellent #### James D. 11 août 2025 Points forts : Propreté This is a 'characterful ' - ie. quirky ! - cottage conveniently located just two minutes walk into the town. Everthing you need is included.There were oil and condiments, etc. and enough crockery and cutlery to supply an army. Bread and milk ( and a bottle of cider ! ) were also there on arrival. We particularly enjoyed sitting in the garden at dusk with a glass of wine watching bats swooping around overhead. The only possible negative point is that the upstairs bed is very low which didn't suit my wife who has arthritis in her hip. This is just a comment, not a criticism though, as it won't affect 99% of visitors, I'm sure. ##### James D.
