When is the best time to go to Gripe?

The best time to visit Gripe, Split, is during the shoulder seasons of May, early June, September, and early October. These months offer pleasant weather, with warm temperatures superb for exploring the city and its surroundings without the intense heat and larger crowds of mid-summer. You'll find it easier to book popular restaurants and attractions, and accommodation prices are generally more favourable than in July and August. Couples looking for a romantic getaway will appreciate the quieter atmosphere during these times. You can enjoy strolls along the Riva promenade, dine al fresco, and explore historical sites like Diocletian's Palace at a more relaxed pace. The sea is also warm enough for swimming, particularly in late spring and early autumn. For solo travellers, the shoulder seasons provide a good balance of activity and tranquillity. You'll find plenty of opportunities to join local tours, meet other travellers, and enjoy the city's offerings without feeling overwhelmed by crowds.

Top Gripe Hotel Reviews

Hotel Kastel 1700

10/10 Excellent

"Excellent location and cute room!"

Amphora Hotel

8/10 Good

"We stayed at the Amphora in October break which meant the hotel was relatively quiet, it appeared as if they’d reduced the staff. The main restaurant disappointingly was closed, we were served in the breakfast room by a single waiter who was unable to cope with demand - food there was not great. Location is fine as long as your either up for a long but pleasant walk or happy to take a taxi, beware some of the local taxis are fierce at overcharging €95 for 2 miles from port to hotel - after that one I used Uber for everything which was good. The promenade and beach were excellent. Spa facilities were good easy to access with capacity in October, would be interesting in August. Room was nice and clean with amazing view of Adriatic Sea from balcony. Overall I would recommend staying in the hotel and eating out, Split city was very interesting with nice cafes and restaurants"

SPLIT CITY ROOMS

8/10 Good

"The front of the building has an elevator but the back of the building were our rooms are located has none. You have to go out the front building and walk to the side and enter the doors of the back building which I feel is unsecured. It could dark at nights and might stepped on dog poop(?). Else everything is fine. You have to ask for a kettle since they didn't leave one in our room. There is a receptionist at least always. Taxi or Uber could not enter the narrow road and needs to walk a little bit only."

Divota Apartment Hotel

10/10 Excellent

"Loved this property. We were lucky enough to be upgraded and had a balcony which was lovely to sit and play cards with a drink. There was also a washing machine and a couple of all in one tabs which was helpful. Very central but also easy to park close by. As this was an apartment, we could have cooked, everything was provided, as well as a coffee machine. Couldn’t fault it at all. Breakfast was up the road in a small cafe, also nice"
