This fully furnished, newly renovated home has four bedrooms, two full bathrooms, hardwood floors, central air conditioning, a large deck with magnificent water views, an outdoor shower and a large yard. Only 150 yards away from two private sandy beaches, this sunny bright house also has access to two tennis courts that overlook the ocean, a play and swing area and acres of land to explore--allowing for lots of fun and relaxation for all! The house opens to an open plan living room with fifteen foot ceilings, a huge brick fireplace and cozy furnishings with a flat screen TV and dining area surrounded by glass patio doors that lead to a wraparound deck. The open kitchen has two separate sinks (great for more than one cook), granite counters and a breakfast bar. Two bedrooms are on this level: one master king with glorious views on the water side and a flat screen TV, and a second room with two twin beds, as well as a full deluxe bath. On the ground floor there are two twin bedded rooms, a full bath and laundry room, and a young adult/children's play area with full size ping pong table, a flat screen TV, and a door leading to the yard, two hanging swings, hammock and outdoor shower. The house has high speed internet access, three flat screen TVs, gas grill, charcoal grill, fire pit, ping pong table and a fully appointed kitchen with every amenity. Tennis on private courts is available free of charge. Four new kayaks available for use as well: Ocean Kayak Malibu Two (two seater), Ocean Kayak Frenzy (single) & two Lifetime Wave Youth Kayak with paddles and life vests. Four brand new Wavestorm paddle boards available, too. Last but not least, this contemporary home is part of a 50+ acre family estate that dates back to the 1860s. The house looks out onto Ipswich Bay and has great views of sunsets across the water as well as views of Crane's Beach, Plum Island, the New Hampshire coast and Mount Agamenticus Conservation Region in Maine. In addition to the private sandy beaches on the estate, the Gloucester area has many long sandy beaches to explore--some of which are great for surfing, skim boarding, scuba diving, snorkeling and nighttime fishing or stargazing. There are nearby quarries, including one in Halibut Point State Park, which makes for a great kayaking destination on calm days. Finally, downtown Gloucester and Rockport are close at hand with their many wonderful restaurants, boutiques, nautical history and antique stores. The views and beauty of this oceanside estate are memorable and extraordinary, and difficult to capture in words. It is a place to rebuild, refresh and discover deep pleasure among the flora, fauna and surrounding oceanic habitat. We enjoyed several sunny beach days and two rainy days. The house is equipped with everything you could possibly need for both types of weather. It has a variety of indoor and outdoor games and beach supplies, including chairs, umbrellas, and kayaks. My husband is the chef of the family, so he appreciates the well-stocked kitchen; he only packs his knives and spices when we vacation here. New this year was more comfortable outdoor seating. A curved couch on the deck provided a cozy spot for reading and birdwatching, while the table seating and swinging hammock and chairs under the deck offered a shady spot to enjoy the ocean breezes. The house is a very short walk to the private beach that is perfect for a quick kayak or paddle board session. The hosts gave very thorough instructions and were available throughout our stay. It is quiet & peaceful however it is close to everything you might need, be it grocery store of dinner out. The owners are so easy to communicate with and quickly address any questions or concerns you might have. We have a large family with grandkids aged 2-10\. This is a perfect family home! You only need to bring your groceries & your swimsuits! We had perfect weather so we were at the beach everyday! Lots to do in any weather-they have lots of games, ping pong, hammock swings, bikes etc! The house was beautiful, very clean and nicely decorated. Everything we needed for our stay was provided, including sheets, towels, and everything we needed for cooking inside and outside on the gas or charcoal grills. The layout was perfect for our group -- putting the kids downstairs with their own TV, ping pong table, game closet, etc. It was an easy walk to the beach, where we had a fantastic time on the included paddle boards and kayaks. They also had plenty of chairs and umbrellas for us to use, complete with carts to get all of this equipment to and from the beach easily. The kids and adults all had a blast out on the water, paddling around, checking out all of the hermit crabs, crabs, lobsters, etc. The one beach has a nice sandy area to lounge in all day long, while the other side has a great shallow, flat area to play in when the tide is out. To add to all of this, the owners were very helpful and responsive with any of our questions. Would definitely recommend this place! ##### Brice D. On our last night at Pondover, we saw fireworks over the water, coming from a distant town. It seemed a very fitting way to celebrate our time there! My family and I really enjoyed staying at Karen and Ames comfortable, well-equipped and clean home. We spent a lot of time on the deck gazing at the ocean views and, when we weren't there, we were at one of the two private beaches that are just down the hill. Four of us loved using the paddle boards and I loved taking out a kayak. It was very convenient to find all the necessary beach related equipment right there - not just kayaks and paddle boards but also beach chairs, kick boards and umbrellas. I grew up not far away and I wanted to show my family charming Annisquam Village and the moving Fisherman's Memorial in Gloucester but mostly we just stayed put at Pondover. Lovely water views and fields of purple salvia can be seen from the kitchen, living room, bedroom, and family room, and spectacular sunsets can been seen from the deck. Our young grandchildren spent most of their days clamming and swimming at the small beach within a short walk from the house. The teenagers loved going to Good Harbor beach, a short ride from the house, and did not even have time to use the many kayaks and paddle boards that were provided. Adults explored the woods and water surrounding the house and found many interesting neighborhoods around Cape Ann. Gloucester's historic harbor, restaurants, bookstore, children’s store, second-hand stores, parks with beaches and walking and biking trails were all a short distance from the house. Books and games, including a ping pong table, helped keep kids engaged at night. After many family vacations on the cape, this vacation was easier even with covid19 restrictions. Karen was an excellent and gracious hostess, providing detailed information about her home and surrounding area and was always available for questions. My family loves vacationing in this well equipped home where opportunities for adventure and relaxation abound. The natural surroundings inspire all ages, grand children grow in independence, vocabulary and confidence as they explore the shoreline, cove, ocean and surrounding area. Reconnecting is important to our family and we are able to achieve this goal in this place as we play cook and read together and take in all the daily beauty from sunrise to sunset.
