As the state’s third-oldest city, its oak-lined streets and historic waterfront showcase centuries-old architecture, boutique shops, and seafood restaurants along the scenic Harborwalk. Visitors can explore the Rice Museum, Kaminski House, and Gullah Museum, tour nearby plantations like Hopsewee and Hampton, or immerse themselves in nature at Hobcaw Barony and the Tom Yawkey Wildlife Center. With easy access to Pawleys Island and Huntington Beach, plus boating, fishing, and kayaking on Winyah Bay, Georgetown offers an authentic Lowcountry experience; peaceful, picturesque, and full of Southern charm.

Public parking is plentiful and free throughout most of the downtown area. Golf carts are a fun local favorite for short rides, while bike rentals offer a breezy way to explore the quiet streets and shaded live oaks. If you’re heading to Pawleys Island or Murrells Inlet, you’ll find it’s just a short, scenic drive along Highway 17.
