This classic Folly Beach, oceanfront side-by-side duplex, located at 1403 E. Ashley Avenue-Unit A, is right near the Washout, on beautiful Folly Beach. Wake up to ocean views from 3 of the bedrooms, and have coffee on the large oceanfront deck while watching Folly's famous sunrises. The open floor plan on the 2nd level allows for more open ocean views through the large windows lining the beach side of the home, and flowing conversation through the living area, dining area, and kitchen. Direct beach access from the property leads down into lots of sand, swimming, and sun! As you enter the property, you will find one full bathroom (inclusive of washing machine & dryer) off of the hallway, near all 4 bedrooms. Each bedroom is adorned with a comfortable queen-sized bed, Smart TV, and high-quality linens, promising a restful night's sleep. Three of these bedrooms have ocean views and the additional 4th sleeping area with a queen bed is accessed through an adjacent bedroom; ideal for a child's room or quiet home office. Head up the staircase to the second level of this side-by-side duplex. The spacious open area greets you with spectacular ocean views, the living area, dining area, kitchen, and access to the street side deck. You'll never be separated from the fun in this space! Chill on the couches to watch the game or sit by the window with a good book in the naturally well-lit sitting area. Cook in the quaint, newly remodeled kitchen while watching the waves and dolphins. Then, easily transfer to the large dining table, where everyone can enjoy meals together with extra seating around the bar. The second full bathroom is easily accessible, around the corner from the kitchen. Drive or ride your bicycles into the downtown area of Folly Beach, about 2 miles away. Here you will find our local restaurants, beach shops, rent a kayak or paddle board, catch a fishing or dolphin tour, or take a stroll down the Folly Beach Fishing Pier, the 2nd longest fishing pier on the East Coast. Want more history and a night out on the town? Just a short, 25-minute drive will have you to historical, downtown Charleston, SC to enjoy all of the charm that the Holy City has to offer! There is parking for 2 vehicles in the driveway. Additional vehicles must find off-street parking where available and follow the City of Folly Beach rules. This meant three bedrooms out of four didn’t have totally privacy as doors had to be left open to allow the occupant of the corner bedroom access to get out of their bedroom as well as the corner bedroom did not stay cool at all if doors were closed. The property itself accommodated our whole family. I loved the fact that there were beach chairs, toys and body boards there for our use during the stay! I was extremely impressed at the willingness from the rental company and the owner to accommodate us and make our stay as relaxing as possible. The only thing I would note is there was only one out of the four bedrooms with a tv in it. I would suggest putting small tvs in the other bedrooms for the guests occupying those rooms. We loved the location!! Who doesn't love the ocean, at a perfect temp, in the backyard!! The island itself is magical but we never tired of being home. As one can imagine, with the house right on the beach, it has some quirks. It was a little weather worn but nothing that stopped our enjoyment. We ending up being thankful for the restrictions in the evening for sea turtles as it ensures we got up to see the beautiful sunrises and surfers. The stairs led right to the beach, and the house was far enough away from Center St that we didn’t have to worry about tons of people, loud noises, and traffic. Very clean, and well prepped for us, and having the washing machine in the house was very convenient. The kids had a blast and we made lots of wonderful memories. At high tide the ocean is literally steps away, then it retreats to give you a flat, expansive beach to enjoy. Our family especially liked having all 4 bedrooms on the first floor (3 of them with windows to the ocean) and a large open space on the main floor.
