The apartment is on the 2nd floor with elevator and accommodates up to 4 guests. It features two bedrooms, two bathrooms with shower, a kitchen with dining area, and a bright living room with panoramic views of the square. Step outside and you are immediately surrounded by Florence’s history, just minutes from the Uffizi Gallery, the Duomo and Ponte Vecchio. The public bus service in Florence is provided by "Ataf". The nearest bus stop to the house is on via Verdi about 6 minutes walking distance, and the bus n° is 23. Otherwise it is always possible to call a taxi calling one of these numbers: +39 0554242 or +39 0554390. The apartment is located on piazza della Signoria, one of the main squares of the city, which forms part of the Duomo district in Florence’s historic city centre. The Duomo area constitutes the very heart of Florence and the area takes its name from Brunelleschi’s magnificent dome on the wonderful Santa Maria del Fiore cathedral. The Duomo neighbourhood offers an array of beautiful historical buildings and superb piazzas including the Mercato di San Lorenzo, the Piazza del Duomo and Piazza della Repubblica, famous for its attractive cafes, patisserie shops, live music, street performers and caricature artists. Furthermore, the area is surrounded by the city’s main cultural attractions, notably Piazza della Signoria, Palazzo Vecchio, Ponte Vecchio, the Bargello Palace and Casa Buonarroti, the former home of Michelangelo, not to mention the Uffizi Gallery and the museum dedicated to the city’s cathedral “Museo dell'Opera del Duomo”. The area also has much to offer in terms of fine dining and exclusive boutique shopping. The top Italian fashion houses are located along Via Tornabuoni, Via Calzaiuoli and Via del Corso and include the famous names of Salvatore Ferragamo, Armani, Versace, Fendi, Louis Vuitton, Burberry, Tiffany & Co. and many more. For those choosing an apartment in this area, the Duomo quarter also offers several food stores otherwise known as “alimentari”, supermarkets, laundrettes and individual gift shops as well as being adequately served by the local public transport service. Florence city centre is a ZTL zone which means a “limited traffic zone” and therefore special rules apply to when you can enter this area. This particular apartment is in fact located within the ZTL zone so this means that if you are thinking of coming to Florence by car and wish to drive around and park, then you will need to pay special attention to the road signs, CCTV cameras and access cameras (they will show either a red/green light) in order to avoid receiving fines. Guests who need to travel within the ZTL zone by car to reach their apartment are advised to contact a private garage. Thanks to the private garage you will obtain a temporary access permit. The apartment is old so the shower door fell of the tracks numerous times so be careful when opening and closing the shower. The view from the front rooms is absolutely lovely and we enjoyed our mornings sipping coffee at the table, looking up at the tower. The apartment was clean and spacious, and the beds were very comfortable. The washing machine was great to have. The host was very responsive to any inquiries we had and flexible with our check-in. The only area that could use some improvement was the kitchen. There is a Lavazzo espresso machine, but you will need to get your own pods, and there was only enough sugar for the first morning. Also, we were only able to use 1 appliance at a time (coffee maker, toaster, microwave) with the way the plugs are situated. This made breakfast take longer to put together. The freezer was not cold enough and it would take more than 24 hours for the ice trays to freeze.However, these were small annoyances, overall. I would recommend this apartment to anyone coming to Firenze who wants to be in the center of it all with a great view! ##### Laura H.
