"A pretty amazing place. Looks very luxurious, the restaurant and the meal was super fancy and yet very reasonably priced. We couldn’t understand why the place was mostly empty, but we stayed mid-week, and the place clearly caters to Italians (even the spa menu was only in Italian). The air-conditioning in the room was not very strong and very noisy, but otherwise very nice room. "

"My great grandfather was born in the very small town of Aquara and, in planning our trip from the USA to Italy, we were looking for a peaceful, welcoming spot to stay while we paid a short visit to the city. The staff was terrifically accommodating and the property was beautiful. There is a restaurant, small bar and pool on site as well as short walking trail, hammocks and, since they are up on a hill, beautiful views of the valley below Aquara. "

"If you want a true Italian family experience then a stay at BnB La Mortella is the answer. We considered staying in Paestum to be close to the great temples but knowing that La Mortella was only 20 minutes away convinced us to try something different during our Italia tour. The BnB was a bit hard to find but once we were there it was worth seeking. Antonio and his family also work the land with citrus and olive groves dominating the landscape. Frequently asked questions

What is the best area to stay in Felitto?
The best area to stay in Felitto is within the historic centre of the village itself.

This central area is perched on a hillside, offering splendid views of the surrounding valley and the Calore Lucano river. It's characterised by narrow, winding streets, traditional stone houses, and small, family-run eateries. The main piazza, Piazza Mercato, is where you'll find the local church and often see villagers gathering. From here, you're just a short walk from most of what Felitto has to offer.

Couples looking for a quiet, authentic Italian experience would find the historic centre particularly appealing. You'll be able to enjoy leisurely strolls, discover hidden corners, and experience the slow pace of village life. It's also an excellent base for exploring the local cuisine, especially the famous fusilli pasta, which is celebrated here.

For those who appreciate nature and outdoor activities, staying closer to the outskirts of the village, towards the Calore Lucano river, provides excellent access to hiking trails and the Gorges of Felitto.
When is the best time to go to Felitto?
The best time to go to Felitto is during the late spring (May to June) and early autumn (September to October) months.

These periods offer pleasant weather, with comfortable temperatures ideal for exploring the natural beauty around Felitto, such as the Gorges of Heat. You'll find fewer crowds compared to the peak summer months, allowing for a more relaxed experience when visiting local attractions or enjoying outdoor activities like hiking. The landscape is also particularly beautiful during these times, with wildflowers in spring and rich colours in autumn.

For couples looking for a romantic getaway, these shoulder seasons provide a more tranquil setting.
