Lovely home with beautiful view

Maura was a wonderful hostess for our stay at Villa Carlotta. She was an excellent communicator and always available to answer questions….also she supplied a detailed information booklet. The villa was very comfortable for two couples and had the necessary amenities. Located in the wonderful small town of Laureto, the villa was in a great location for daily trips to the amazing towns close by. The beautiful view of the surrounding area and Adriatic Sea was lovely. A perfect home to explore the area in Puglia. We all loved our stay in Villa Carlotta.

Great professional stay

Host is lovely and super helpful and the property is very nice and well maintained. Exactly as expected from pictures. Can run all appliances at the same time which is not the case in all properties in Italy, and they were well prepared with a good travel cot for our baby. The only thing of note is the property is below another one and you can sometimes hear scraping of chairs or noise from people slamming the outside doors above, but no more than you might hear in any residential property. We had a great stay.

Enjoyable Autumn break with friends

Been trying to visit these Villas for a few years and finally had the opportunity. we were certainly not disappointed. Very smart villa great accommodation with fantastic views. Our first visit to Puglia so the local advice from Maura was invaluable. A great meal at a local Masseria and the in villa catering and cooking lesson organised by Maura was fab. We will certainly try to return.

Amazing beautiful villa

Probably one of the nicest places we have stayed at. The view was amazing up in the mountains. The location was close enough to the beach and convenient to other small towns to visit. The master bath was beautiful and shower/bath was so nice. The hostess left us with some food to start with which was super nice and helpful. Grocery store is a quick drive away. (Be sure to bring soap to bathe, that was one thing not provided.) The hostess lives up the driveway, checked in with us and gave some really nice recommendations in her book which I referred to frequently. The entire residence was really beautiful and spacious. Huge dining room table,nice living room area to hang out. Kitchen was great. So nice to have a washer/dryer available. Overall, absolutely gorgeous, couldn't recommend the place enough.

Wonderful views, totally relaxing.

We wanted somewhere special and romantic for our honeymoon and from the moment we arrived at villa Carlotta we knew that it would live up to our expectations. The high standard of finish and the care and attention to detail is evident throughout the property with many luxury touches. The bathroom is just to die for, very luxurious with a HUGE spa bath and wonderful romantic lighting. The outdoors is also amazing, with a gorgeous pool totally private and secluded in the terraced garden, a sunbathing terrace overlooking it and a lovely shady spot with comfortable armchairs and settee where you can sit and read or just take in the breath taking views across to the sea. We really enjoyed the day trips to the local towns which are all close by. The locals are very friendly and helpful but don’t expect them to speak much English which didn’t really matter as we managed to get ourselves understood and it added to the fun of the holiday. The restaurants and markets are also great, with superb food very reasonably priced and lots of choice as is the local vino! We would definitely recommend hiring a car so that you can get out and about and really experience the area. We had a wonderful time and couldn’t have asked for a more restful, peaceful, idyllic location and although we don’t normally stay in the same place twice we will definitely come back to this beautiful villa.

Opvallend mooi zicht

Verblijf in villa Carlotta was voor ons bezoek aan Puglia zeker een meerwaarde. Van het moment dat je de poort doorrijdt voel je je op vakantie. De terrassen met ligzetels, zwembad,... allemaal even mooi gedaan. Maura is daarbij een fantastische gastvrouw die er altijd is als je haar nodig hebt. We maakten een goeie keuze!

We waren met 6 volwassenen en vonden het een heerlijk vakantiehuis, met fijne airco. Erg goed verzorgd welkom. Alleen: het is geen villa, maar een appartement op de begane grond, met een ander appartement er bovenop. Ook het zwembad is wel klein (ca 3 x 7m)

Ein Paradies in einer umwerfenden Gegend! Täglich ein wunderbares Frühstück auf der grossartigen Terrasse mit Blick über das Tal bis hin zum Meer lassen den Tag schon gut beginnen. Toller Platz für sämtliche Ausflüge in Apulien. Maura ist eine liebenswürdige, sehr freundliche und extrem hilfsbereite Gastgeberin. Die tollen Fotos des Hauses entsprechen der Wirklichkeit! We enjoyed a wonderful 10 days in this beautiful villa. Maura was extremely helpful and gave us lots of advice on places to visit and good restaurants to eat in. Maura also went out of her way to bring us back some binoculars so that we could enjoy the spectacular sea views to the full .The neighbours were also very friendly giving us fresh figs from their trees. We would certainly recommend this villa to others.

Super place!

What a fantastic place to stay. Waking up to the panoramic views was an incredible treat which we did not tire of. The pool is just a short way from the house and gated off so perfect if you have young children. Everything was fantastically clean and the house well equipped. We were downstairs while another family was upstairs. (The two places are connected as other reviews have mentioned. ) We had separate driveways, gardens and swimming pools and we heard no noise at all. It was a privilege to meet Maura and her recommendations were much appreciated. We had a seafood dinner with a private chef which she kindly arranged for our last night. It was delicious - highly recommend. You can’t go wrong with this place. We loved it! (If you get stuck in the bathroom, just turn the light off!)

Great luxury vacations in the land of trulli

The villa is excellent, spacious, decorated with taste and has everything you’ll expect for a great vacation in Puglia. The view is amazing. The service and attention to details from Maura is really five star level, from the preparations, the organization of the staff to the advice and information for the visits (best so far in all places we have visited!) The location is excellent, some minutes from the beach and the best towns in Puglia. Trulli are beautiful to see and visit but not so comfortable for living, that is why we chose staying in this comfortable house. The villa has different well independent areas, the house, the pool-deck-barbecue, the upper deck and the terraced gardens, lots of space to spend days in if you want to rest between visits to towns. We had a great time and look forward to coming back soon.

Beautifully equipped villa

The villa is fabulous, beautifully equipped - Maura really has thought of everything. She is lovely, & incredibly helpful with local knowledge/recommendations etc. The views were spectacular, and everything was very clean & in good condition. There were just a few things we wish we'd known/had made clearer to us: - the pool is really some distance from the villa - rather than the 30m it says in the details, we registered 100 steps on the Fitbit, and it is across the drive, through a gate, and then about 4 levels down the steeply terraced garden. We were very fortunate in that the villa upstairs was empty for most of our stay, so Maura was very happy to let us use their pool, which was on the same level as our accommodation; - the villa 'above it and connected to it' is in fact upstairs, Villa Carlotta being on the ground floor. Again, we were very lucky in that it was unoccupied during our stay, but I can imagine that it would be quite noisy from footsteps overhead if it was full; - there is a puzzling system of door locking in the bathrooms, meaning that both my husband and I got trapped in separate bathrooms on the first evening. It took us some time to work out how to get out (my husband worked it out first & then came to rescue me!) & I can imagine that it would be very upsetting for elderly people, or for parents with young children the other side of the door in the same situation. I would have loved an explanatory sign on the wall, to avoid the panic!; - the garden was steeply terraced earth and trees, not grass, as we expected, although there were plenty of seating areas on each level of the hill; - the view from the villa is spectacular, facing east and looking over the valley below and the sea. However, that did mean that, being on a steep hill, the sun started to disappear from areas of the terraces from about 2, and was completely gone behind the villa by 4 or 5pm. We were disappointed not to be able to sit out on a sunny terrace in the evenings, with a drink, when we could see the valley below bathed in bright sunshine! Obviously, there is nothing that the owners can do about the geography/topography of the area, so I do feel a bit mean mentioning some of the above - Maura couldn't have been lovelier, but I just feel that these are things that I would want to know beforehand when making my choice of villa.

Apulien ist eine Reise wert!

Die Bezeichnung "Luxusvilla" führt zu etwas falschen Vorstellungen. Die Villa Carlotta ist eigentlich eine Wohnung mit Terrasse im Erdgeschoss eines Hauses. Über dieser Wohnung gibt es noch eine weitere Wohnung. Es handelt sich also um ein Zweifamilienhaus, was zum Nachteil führt, dass man in der Wohnung im Erdgeschoss das Gehen und das Stühle rucken auf dem Steinboden mitbekommt. Trotzdem kann ich die komfortable Wohnung empfehlen. Es gibt einen grossen Wohnraum, zwei sehr bequeme Doppelbetten, eine gut ausgestattete Küche und eine Terrasse mit einem wunderbaren Blick zum Meer. Auch die steil abfallende Gartenanlage zum Schwimmbad hat mit den verschiedenen Sitzplätzen ihren Charme. Das Objekt eignet sich eher für Erwachsene, denn Kinder haben im Aussenbereich wenig Spielfläche. Sehr bewährt hat sich aber das beheizte Schwimmbad, weil das Wetter im Herbst nicht zum Baden im Meer einlud. Betonen möchte ich auch die sehr freundliche Betreuung durch die Besitzerin Maura Watson. Ich würde die Wohnung vor allem für Ferien zwischen Juni und September empfehlen. Wir verbrachten eine Woche im Oktober in der Villa Carlotta und konnten bei dem eher kühlen Wetter weder die schöne Terrasse noch die Gartenanlage benutzen.

Perfect !

The Villa was as depicted in the photographs - and then some. We spent 8 days here, using it as a base to explore this part of Puglia and beyond. The location was spectacular, so much so that we were often torn between going out and staying home to enjoy the view from the terrace and the swimming pool. In the end, we found a compromise to do everything we wanted including spending time sightseeing, at the beach and at the villa. What really contributed to the success of the vacation was the help we received from Maura Watson, our hostess. She went above and beyond to ensure that we had everything we needed, responding almost instantly to our requests. Her recommendations for places to see and eat were spot on. She even arranged to have local chefs cook more than half our dinners, thereby freeing us up from the need to shop, cook and clean up. We can't wait to go back. Thank you, Maura!
